SO i'm going to write in english Sphism/tonguesmiley

I would like to see the french definitions with the english definitions as a direct translation.

Then we'll make a french index page and will have to add in some pages, for example papillon >> regardez 'butterfly'

Or something like that.

Perhaps a good way to do it will be to have 1 thread where anyone who is able to translate can post the translation for me to cut and paste into the poidia.

Then once that's done we can give our translated stuff to talaron to use as he/she wants(sorry don't know if you are a boy or girl)

Also there is definitely some very cool stuff in the french version that we could translate into english and use in the english poidia.

That way it's a fair swap and everyone benefits.

There is also a german poidia, it would be cool to do the same with that.

One spherculism's main goal's is to increase understanding. SO it's very important to me to help non english speakers to understand as much as possible.

Anyway,

Anybody like to start translating the text in the poidia, why not start with the 'Weave'

matt, i think, and so does TEKDUFF that it would be the best idea to ahve them joined together. so we are all ok on that one. ie; the definitions together would be excellent. the version i saw from talron was mainly terms, ie names not defintions translated. that is a huge help for anyone trying to translate articles into french (as i was/am but other things are always in the way).
the problem might be in understanding what poeple mean on the accepted poidia definitions and getting the right meaning across. (for instance, i wouldnt want to try to trnaslate something about a technique i didnt fully understand). it would definately be a good idea to have a post where french/english speakin spinners can discuss this, because an english translation of definitions might be well short of what someone french could write. and equally there might be misunderstanding the other way round too. once an accepted translated definition is reached, you can paste it into the poidia.
im well up for playing a part in this but im away for the next month and a bit. could i suggest this system;
someon puts up a translation of a definition. then people interested in this enterprise can all send PMs to the poster with suggestions or changes. he can then PM them back, blah blah blah. evertually, when some agreement is reached, it goes in the poidia. this is only because any translation should be read by at least 3 people. if a list of about 15 french/english speakers was available, then translaters would know who to PM for questions rather than waiting on the baords for a response. bearing in mind that poepl have jobs etc, lets say half of the people wont reply because of work. some might be travelling and another few percent for the X factor.... abyway, ill try and get a post up in the french section tomorrow covering all this and then PM some poele about it too.
peace

Matt: I'm a boy Sphism/smilesmiley

My first goal was to make a list of terms to use, in order to have some coherent definitions if many people was helping. I used Poidia to have a reference of most used terms for english speakers.
An other goal is to find a way to classify terms: poidia way is the best i've seen

I will leave Reunion Island for Paris tomorrow, so I will be able to discuss with other spinners to confirm or change the terms.

I agree that a joined version is better.
First, I didn't want to make literal traductions of Poidia definitions in order:
- to create a dynamic within french spinners community
- to know how french spinners name their moves or tricks
- to confront french and english definitions
- to create some new links between french and english community
An other problem is to find some translators: they would know perfectly french, english and poi to understand the english definition of a trick to translate it in french... everybody can't do it, I had many problems in this way (of course many french guys are better than me in english and poi :p)
But for now I've been almost alone, maybe I don't know how to communicate Sphism/smilesmiley

So I hope that while this project will evolve, some french guys will participate to french discussions. Then some reporters will have to make these defininitions homogenous and place them in a multi language poidia.

Finally, where would be placed this universal Poidia ? Sphism/smilesmiley
