Greetings earthling!

Hehe awesome to have you here! Ahh, stick around with us goofballs for a while, you'll be multi-talented in no time. I did a bit of CJ for a while, but recently shattered my acrylic on the driveway. May it rest in peace.

Whats your favorite color??

Never stop exploring,
Catherine

Hey Bubbles,

Good to have you here.

Make yourself at home.

It's funny that people tend not to write in the forums, by doing so you entered the realm of my favourite 10% of members.

SO where are you at with your poi? Perhaps we could suggest a few vids to watch and a couple threads to look through.

I started CJ a few years back but never kept at it. I really enjoy it tho.

Take it easy,

¦m¦

hehehe cheers guys! i would have to say my fav colours would be midnight velvet purple and blue Sphism/gigglesmiley

errrm well im not learning as much as i did when i first started, but since play i wanna go back to basics and improve my technique. ive realised lately its not all about what or how many moves you can do, but the technique and art of it. well i say that but ill probs get really frustarted by it, ive seen so many amazing people spin and look so smooth and thats what i want to achieve next.

so how come not many post on the forums here? i must admit ive not been on it much and im not sure of the setup, i.e. where everything is  but when ive got some non-revising time ill have a look around

hello hello

nice choice of favoirite colour. more descriptive than just purple Sphism/smilesmiley although you like all blues....?

ah yes, and the basics of technique...... thats a turning point in learning usually. from then on, it all gets much more complicated. (only joking... but it requires a bit more practice). heres a few pointers; try stripping down all your movements to just what is absolutely essential to keep the poi going, and this usually means slowing down your spinning; try 'spinning from the hips', which means leading all your body motion from that part of your body; try forgetting about the poi occasionally and just move your body around and see what you can do with it (i do a great line in acid freak crossed with modern dance experimentaionalist when the mood strikes me).

i think people avoid posting for different reasone. maybe some because they either feel daunted by the descriptions of things that are hard to understand or feel they have nothing to contribute due to the sheer volume of the above... or they dont have time to search the forums. theres some great stuff in there tho if you persevere

have fun and hope to see you on the forums. Sphism/coolsmiley

peace

nah midnight velvet blue too Sphism/gigglesmiley
thanx for the advice! yeah ill go have a look soon lol, not done too much revision  but ill work doubly hard tommz!

All true. The reason I'm not on the forums a whole lot is the time issue... got other things I need to be doing. But, as he said.. dig through the threads, you will find hidden passages of untold wisdom... or atleast a couple of good tips Sphism/smilesmiley

Hello and welcome! Sphism/gigglesmiley

Cool about going back and learning technique and smoothness, I cannot recommend enough learning all of your reels in every variation until they're super-smooth for learning control and really being able to move around and flow. Try and consider turns as moving your body rather than moving your poi as well!

Hello m'dear- nice to see you on here Sphism/smilesmiley If you're in need of new things to learn this is THE place to be Sphism/smilesmiley

See you about,

Happy Spinning Sphism/smilesmiley

hehehe thankyou, just taken a short break from revison, im gonna fail Sphism/sadsmiley but its not the end of the world so its ok Sphism/winksmiley

hmmm looks like peeps have their msn addys here too so ive noticed so ill put mine on, fell free to add me guys if your not too afraid to chat to lil old me

yes, and then have feelings of GUILT as you distract her from her revision! mwahahahahahahaha

ah well ive managed to do a quarter of the work for my exams next week now, but still need to know it off by heart 8O you guys are so distracting hehehe

bah but its so hard! bit im doing now is on visual perception, heres a passage im learning for anyone who might be the smallest amount interested:

"perception of object motion. there is evidence that tau is used to calculate time to contact when an object moves towards a more or less motionless observer. however, tau on its own is not always sufficient to assess time to contact, and other kinds of information are used. observers can make very accurate judgements of biological movement when presented with point light displays. accurate sex judgements in studies on biological movement may depend on structural cues(e.g., centre of the moment) or dynamic an cues(e.g., body sway of the upper body and hips).......blah.........blah

all this makes me think of is poi, and how to move in order to do new moves.... anyone here do psychology and wanna help me out Sphism/coolsmiley
