Introduction (woot, right forum!)

Hey everyone! I'm Stu! I've only recently joined the poi community, and so far spinning has been a lot of fun, except for when my poi lands a solid hit into my testicles... Though, that's becoming more and more rare as I keep practicing. Did anyone else find that happened frequently when they were just starting out?

One of the reasons I signed up here was 'cause I was told it had really good videos of poi moves (which it does, I've been very impressed), so I can have a little visual aid.

Also, (last thing!) I've been interested in checking out the dart rope, does anyone know anywhere where I could figure that one out?

Cool, peace guys!

no idea about dart rope.... although i did see someone messing about with one at spitz, the central london poi meet.
the vids are wicked Sphism/smilesmiley they sucked me in as well almost a year ago. until that id been beginning to think that the variation with poi was limited. then my head exploded. thankfully all the kings men were able to put humpty back together again.....
so yea, enjoy the site and hope to see you round the forums.

Hey Stu, welcome to |S| 'tis a lovely place. :11
I still knacker myself occasionally with an errant poi. but it's getting less frequent. Spin slower, it's better for technique and testicals Sphism/winksmiley
The video tutorials are found in the 'photos & videos' section (top left of the page) but loads more are linked directly from threads about the subject so have a scout around, you can find some real gems in the old threads.
I'm afraid I draw a bank on the rope dart though, seen it done once and heard it talked about occasionally but :24

I've only been doing poi for ~2 months, I'd like to think I've picked it up quickly, but from my (little) experience it's easier to learn stuff when you're spinning with others, as opposed to online videos.

I (and all the res crew) visited Tam Tams down on Mont Royal (in Montreal), I knew there were spinners so I decided to bring my home made "sock and balls" down and oddly enough there were a bunch of spinners, there was one girl from Mexico who was incredibly helpful. I wish I could thank her again!

And as for dart roping (or rope darting...) I looked online for communities and whatnot, found a place that teaches it and thought, hmmm, I'll check that out, they had a ten-digit phone number, I think they're all on a different continent. Oh well!

And that's my poi story! I'm definitly a beginer, but I love spinning! So that's good enough for me! Sphism/gigglesmiley
