StoneT I was spinning in this bandshell in a park in my town. My girlfriend and I use it for practice when it gets rainy.
Poikid it may look like I can dance while spinning but I need a little more work without the poi. I can dance like a hippie, but I don't know if that counts.
Sorry for taking so long to respond. My computer caught a bug and completely died so I havn't had internet access hopefully I'll be able to check more frequently and when I have a little more time. Peace

Jon, when I click the link both videos pop up for me. It's the one on the right. I am hopefully going to get to redo the site tommarow. It doesnt really fit my personallity.
About the spinning I finally have more control over what I am doing in the video and found alot of different ways to morph the atom. Throwing in longarm and slowing the poi down at different times adds some crazy effects. I can't say I have been this excited about poi in a couple of months.

Hard to say whether it's atomic as both poi seem to change planes alot, box/trinity style, but looks crazy anyway. Good work.

I don't understand really what aomtic and trinity/box spinning really are. Sure I get that atoms interesect in the middle and boxes intersect at the edges but no one seems to say more then that. Then again I am not the most avid technical post reader anymore so I probably missed alot. From some posts on HoP I got the idea atoms are constantly changing . I dunno though its still probably the most fun way to spin I've figured out yet and thats whats important.

That's what impressed me about the vid. If you had been spinning basic atomic or box stuff it wouldn't have been anywhere near as impressive. In my opinion 'Atomic' means the poi spin in planes at approximately 90 degrees to each other with the planes intersecting near the center of rotation (think butterfly with really bad planes); 'Box' spinning involves 90 degree plane changes due to rapidly moving the center of rotation (your hand) when the poi head is at the intersection between the planes; 'Trinity' is similar but with plane changes at 60 degrees (three of which can put you back to your original plane)
But as I say that all IMHO and you should ignore it and do what feels good regardless.
I can't even work out how you're spinning like that. Is there some kind of system or is it essentially random?

It all started out with my left hand spinning wheel plane at my left side and my right hand spinning wall plane intersecting with thatat about 90 degrees. Then I played with going inbetween the arms and over and under and antispun until this fluid movement came about. I really don't understand what I am doing yet. On HoP nX made a post about meshing and clashing atoms and rev talked about morphing the shape of the atom and I guess that is more of what I'm doing. There is some type of system to it but I have no idea what it is yet. I do know that the poi always come back to being atomic.

Your post reminds me that I really need to rebuild my video library. After the last computer I had caught a bug I lost everything and never really tried to get all the vids I had back. I think I'll go peruse your video thread and see what I can find in there.

i really liked the first one anyway but by the second one you've tidied up all your timings and all those nice ideas really shine through supa smooth and completely in flow with each other. some really good poi thinking/movement going on with stalls in good places making the transitions between nice circle patterns...
the atomic stuff works fine an is some of the best i've seen to actually keep it in flow with everything else. reminded me a bit of how matt does it. like the slidy footwork too, and the fact that i can see the peron filming you in the mirror... i did prefer the location in the first one but that's irrelevant compared to the spinning!
