Socks?!

Hey I'm at a loss here. I wanted to make some sock poi but I have no idea what kind of socks to use.. I spin more of long strings about the length of my underarm to the tip of my fingers..so I'm wondering 1. What kind of 'socks' am I supposed to use for this 2. Where can I get them 3. What colors would be best for UV 4. What materials would be nice and light , and 5. Would I be better off just buying some material and making tubes?? Much thanks to anyone who can help me! I use cheap knee length stretchy socks. They cost £3 the pair (2 bucks).

don't worry about having them too long cos you can knot them up or cut bits off.

Too stretchy and you lose control, too rigid and you lose fluidity.

If you make tubes try to use a slightly slippery material cos it makes hyperloops a pleasure.

Just experiment, different poi will change the way you spin, have fun with it ~ and i definitely recommend always making your own cos then you can tweak the design to suit your style.

¦m¦

I have a pair of (i think they are called tube socks)...

basically they are the kind of socks that are think like your crew socks, but long enough to go bpast your knee... I put a hacky sack in each one.. note: that's an already broken in hackey sack, but a new one will work all the same..

I do not tie a knot in the end like some people do.. rahter I tie a small knot on the handle side to kee them from slipping out my fingers..

since I don't tie a know on the poi head end, the spin much slower (lots of wind resistance) for people that spin light poi (glowsticks and such) this will help you work out.. because its hard to spin them fast... but the natural slower speed makes them easy to learn ANYTHING with.. they have weight so they isolate and isolate slower so its easier to learn.. tanlges work really well.. and everything else has this nicce feel to it..

oh and it doesn't take long to stratch them out..if I don't have the handle knot they go pretty much from hand to underarm.. maybe and inch under..

I've got a pair of black socks, I guess they could come up to my knee If I pulled them up. They've got a heel and all. Use 3 broken in hacky sacks for weights, one happens to be larger then the other two so I needed to balence it out. They work fine, wish I could get some longer socks though.

Awesome thanks for the info friends Sphism/gigglesmiley Ok so socks with heels will still work fine with tangles??
