British Juggling Convention 2004 ~ BJC2004
Well its nearly that time of year again. BJC will be held in Derby from the 15th - 18th April 2004.
I went to the one last year in Brighton and had a blast, even though many jugglers HATE poi, no really, they're proper fascists about it. But lets face it, you ever see a purist juggler that could dance :4
SO anyhow, the more poi spinners that turn out, the more we can rude it up.
I still haven't decided if i'm going, i think we've missed the deadline for cheap presale tickets. But i'm open to suggestion, and i'd love to meet some of you poiple and get to know you better, after all you're family.
Maybe poiple wanna travel up together???
Anyway, here's a forum to chat about it.
And here's a link to their website

British Juggling Convention 2004 ~ BJC2004
i'll be there. and performing too if i can't help it
also teaching workshops in the following: movement with a stick.(nontech stick manoovers, fucking hard body tricks
)
contact stickery, probly doubles too..
bluenerd poi: wierdass manoovers that will range from hightech to stoopid)
dancey poi.(again about body shapes)
[startgentlerant]us juggler types don't all hate poi(and some of us can dance too...). and matt i wish well respected peeps like you would not fuel an already pretty hot fire going between poiistas and jugglers; it never helps to stereotype in a negative manner[/endgentlerant]
can't wait to spin wit'ya mr PPP twill be an honour;also any other spherculoids in town.....
hugs

It's a pity I can't go
But I like the idea of workshops for dance and flow... it's something I've made a point of doing and every new move either gets incorporated into my flow so it looks easy or very rarely gets used. But a lot of people learn move after move after move and end up having trouble linking it all together in a natural fashion. It's definitely something that people need to think about and become more aware of IMO.

8O OMFG !!!!
rob I think I'll visit all of your workshops
no seriously Iam really excited to go to such a big convention Jipiayeah!
British Juggling Convention 2004 ~ BJC2004
rob man we're only joking! i'm a juggler too...
it's just like the diffrence between snowboarders and skiers, we're all in it for similar things but itis just fun to tease each other every now and again!

Hey Rob, rant acknowledged
I was pretty pissed at some of the jugglers i met at bjc last year ~ and it may well be the deciding factor as to whether i go or not. Don't get me wrong, I met some lush folks. It was mainly that arse hole who seemed in charge. Bald guy ~ think he wrote the encyclopaedia of juggling??? maybe??? maybe not. Anywho, I didn't like the guy. Might just get me to organise a big 'object manipulation convention' ~ bjc without the ego
Still dunno if i'll be there ~ feel quite trapped in brighton at the moment, but if anyone wants the best quality staff workshops in britain ~ get in touch with bluecat << he da man

ta matt..
yeah i knoow some jugglers do have a real problem with poi swingers... but the benefits of this convention for me outweigh by far the negatives; and would do so even if i was just a poiista...
i'll hug yu good and proper if you don't go. and tree will not speak to you..

So then poiple, how was bjc?
Duvan and deepsoulsheep: I bet you had a whole stack of fun, better get posting in the 'new to you' forum. I wish i could have made it up there but the weekend before was far too hectic, bluecat's workshops are pretty fly huh
All i wanted to do this weekend was play poi. Last week the weather was fabulous and i was at work. Pissed down with rain all weekend and monday morning is again glorious
Oh well. I learnt soooo much new stuff this weekend though, guess i was tapped in to the main frame up in derby
Hope you all had a blast.

twas delicious and muddy.
only ended up doing 1 workshop in the end, included a bit of dancey poi and a bit of nerd poi.... but there was no time to do any more  .... espescially as most of my playing was done in the early hours of the morning after renegading....
but the show went well and all was lovely anyhoo.

Hi everyone
twas great .. loved it
My very first British convention .. and surrely not the last (hope to make it for Bristol convention)
Anyway, great site and very good organisation (worth a European's)
Nice Big Top & 24h juggling room,
Typical English weather ( I had signed for rain/mud anyway)
I've met DuVan and some kewl Italian spinners from Bristol
some nice British aswell - of course - Silverman, Idam ...
Finally saw PK spinning live -not in video -
Just a little regret, that few spinners could come, and that the only good workshop, was the one of Rob (thanks btw)
Nice Fireshow aswell: we had the premiere of Tepooka's next show
:
won't tell ya more, we'll probably have the full version at the EJC
Excellent Public Show aswell: the new Luke Burrage show is amazing, and finally saw Jay Gilligan on stage: Outstanding 8O never seen smthg like this b4
See Ya ALL at the EJC
