Hi there,

somehow I cannot open the tutorials, they seem to be there, but no chance to get them playing ...8-)
Any suggestions?

Many thanks

Hmm, well which ones aren't working?

They all use different codecs.

The poi tutorial videos all use the same codec, it's old so you should have it.

Are you using a Mac?

Because those videos are all in wmv format which Mac probably doesn't like.

I'll be updating everything at some point and everything will work on all computers.

Generally speaking, when asking for help with computers you need to give a good list of what computer setup you have and the exact problem.

eg

I'm trying to open these videos
They don't play at all, i just get a blank screen
These ones seem to work fine tho

I'm using a pc with windoze xp and firefox

If there is an error message then you can include it

If you are using a mac

then the problem is likely to be that mac doesn't like wmv files, you'll be able to find a mac wmv player on google i should think, beyond that i have no idea.

If you are using a pc / linux

It's probably a codec problem, you could try updating your codecs (that's the bit that COdes and DECodes the video)

A great pack to use is called K-lite, it's got every codec you could ever want and you can download it here: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm

Another problem that sometimes occurs is when people are trying to view videos at work, i did once sort out a 'no porn' license but the person having the problem at work still couldn't view the vids.

We should be able to get you viewing the videos soon enough tho Sphism/smilesmiley

Sorry, could have thought of a better way to describe the problem! :S

Ok, WinXP running (crappy software though), mozilla browser, full K-lite codec installed with preset options (nothing changed)
and I get so far as to see a wmv window but no movie, no sound

It tells me that there is no filter to render the incoming data (whatever that means ...)

Hope that this is better explained ... but am not too sure ;-)

Thanks for your help!

Hmmm, that is really weird, i hate to say it but what happens in internet explorer?

I guess you're talking about the poi tutorials, they should all work fine, they are 3 years old (but still pretty badass) so the codecs and player should be fine.

I guess upgrading everything would be a good start, mozilla, codecs, media player (last resort)

DO you have trouble watching other online videos?

I wonder if there's a setting in firefox?

Perhaps windoze dirty firewall is blocking the site?

erm...

anyone else got any ideas?

I just got a new hard drive so i can finally muck about with my videos again.

Hope you get it sorted, i've been looking thru those vids a lot recently, rewriting all the file names, and there is a lot of great stuff in there.

laters,

m
