Video Production ~ Film, Capture, Edit, Compress, Upload
Ok,
It's been a plan of mine for absolutely ages and it looks like today is the start of it.
I'm going to try to help everyone make better videos.
SO, we're going to need to talk about:
Cameras
Filming
Capturing
Editing
Compressing (or Encoding)
Producing DVD's
Making video for web and uploading.
But this is going to be a work in progress, so to start you off i suggest you download some software.
First word of advice is NEVER USE PREMIERE, it sucks ass we'll talk about editing software later.
For now you just need to capture some stuff and tweak it a little:
VirtualDub is the best free video manipulation tool
and here's the sourceforge download page
now it seems that this new version of Virtual dub will do the capturing for us, but a great little program i used to use is called winDV
Excellent Firewire DV camcorder capture device
Here is an excellent website about Deinterlacing Video
This is teh page to find filters for Virtual Dub
And this is Smart Deinterlacer, it's great!!!
Here's some help with using VirtualDub, add a filter, set compression etc.
this looks like it's full of juicey info, videohelp.com
found some great advice on codecs on videohlep.com
ffdshow is meant to be excellent codec, it allows you to do lots of different formats, i just find it soooo confusing tho. However i've just taken a look at it and it lets you export settings, so i could make them and post them up for all to use.
The Codec Pack I use is the K-Lite Codec Pack, it's great. It has tonnes of codecs in it, which is great for playback, but if you want to encode anything it makes things extremely confusing.
i'm just adding links as i find them, i'll come back and sort this post out later.
Ok, i'm gonna crack on with making some more vids, but i'll add more to this as we go along.
