Multi-Plex Tangles

So, I did a workshop last month in Boston with fNi and while playing around we started trying to air wrap our poi together while air wrapping separately. We couldn't really get it since we didn't play with it for long, but it's definately possible with more practice and I figured out a few variations which Id like to throw out to the community to have a go with it.

Side by Side Tripple Nexus Airwrap

Done with 2 people and 4 poi. Stand next to each other and spin all your poi clockwise. Air wrap your poi with your partner (ie - the person standing on the left side wraps his right poi with the left poi of the person standing on the right). As the poi do half their air wrapped rotation, both of you air wrap your free poi on the already air wrapped poi. This should result in 2 simultaneous air wraps with 3 nexuses that exit into a single air wrap between 2 people, then exit completely.

From Behind Tripple Nexus Airwrap

Same pattern as before except instead of standing side by side, one person comes from behind the other. The person in front does a normal air wrap while the other person comes behind and air wraps both their poi with the front person's air wrap on both sides.

Hyperloop Airwrap

Both people stand facing each other doing buzz saw tangles (hyperloops). One person does forward while the other does reverse. During the hyperloop, let your chains tangle together and air wrap them mid loop... Exit the airwrap, then exit the hyperloops.

In theory you can add more people to these to increase the multi-plex. I think we found some other variations while we played too but I can't remember them at the moment and have no one to play with in regards to this right now. So, have at it and post any other variants you may find!

Comments

There's some interesting thoughts in there man. Definitely fresh. I dig it alot. I've done some interesting tangle variations with two people before, but never anything multiplex.

Also, I think that diagram you sent me would help explain things a bit since you're discussion is kind of confusing to follow because of the vagueness in some of it.

One thing though, Did you actually get what you call a hyperloop airwrap to work. I tried it, but everything goes to hell. Basically, when the lead poi of the tangle started twisting with the other persons poi, the nexus of the tangle gets all screwed up. The twist causes the lead poi to stop while the follow poi continue spinning. On the off-chance that the lead poi's tangle actually finishes before the follow poi gets there, the tangle nexus is fried, so everything dies. Most of the time though, the twist doesn't finish before the follow poi of the tangles get there.

Do you advise on that?

It's true. I posted in haste. The hyperloop airwrap isn't really doable the way I described it. Sorry for the misinformation. I thought I remembered figuring out some variation of this with fNi but can't remember how now.

As for the visual, check out the diagram I made on Tribe:
