I'm sure you know the score..

I can't believe no one has any questions about this crazy family of moves, post them here and maybe I'll upload another batch of vids Sphism/winksmiley

Do you think theres a difference between air wraps and hyperloops? If you do are you one of those weird people who spend there time arguing over beats and circles?

I dont see any difference between Hyperloops and airwraps. If it tangles, i call it a hyperloop.

I have spent a bit of time arguing, er.... discussing about circles and beats. In my opinion: the point at which Circle 1 becomes Circle 2 is called the Beat.

That whole argument comes from some of the finest poi spinners I know. Beats is a good way to teach Initiates but if you get tied to that concept then you will limit your understanding of poi in the long run.

I did start up a massive discusion about poi notation, called Plural Zee Alpha. I won't go into it now but there are Fundamental problems with the notation we use at the moment. For example, I had a student once who could not get her head around windmills but could do a 4 Beat corkscrew. When I told her it was the same pattern spun in a different plane she got it straight away.

I try to teach Patterns, which need to be learnt in every possible plane and position.

I saw the Plural Z Alpha topic. Sphism/smilesmiley
I don't have much of an opinion on beats, but I don't teach so that could be it.

That last post was me. I really like how you break everything down and just give us a few patterns to give us some ideas and leave us come up with our own, something I love doing. Sphism/smilesmiley

Good. I figure that as long as you can See that certain patterns are possible you should be able to figure out how to do them. The forums are here as backup, partly for me to teach through but mainly for everybody to teach each other. 'Cos it's only be teaching a subject that you can truly begin to understand that subject.

As for 'Plural Zee Alpha': I like to provoke reactions from people. I started that thread with something like 'Standard poi notation is funamentally flawed ~ we should all adopt Plural Zee Alpha straight away'.

Obviously I don't truly believe that. For one thing, any notation like PZA will only ever be used by poiple who have advanced far enough in their skill that standard notation 'breaks down'. However, that PZA thread sparked a massive ammount of interrest and a load of great ideas came out of it. We kinda ended up with 2 semi-working examples of notation that would work. By combining these 2 forms we could end up with a very elegant notation system.

It was spherculism which forced me to start the thread. I knew I was about to catalogue every move I knew. Without decent notation they would get terribly mixed up, have you seen some of the tutorial file names!! It's a nightmare. But it works.

Anywho, I'm glad you don't like to be spoon-fed. I believe the most important part of learning is the exploration of unknown territory, and the satisfaction of figuring it out for yourself.

If you can't figure something out, post to the forum and we'll sort you out Sphism/gigglesmiley

Either way, if you are a member of this site, I'll do everything in my power to make you better at poi.

I made some fun new poi today, there as long as my electroglo's so now they won't feel all weird when I use them. Hyper loops like really cool with them for some reason. Sphism/gigglesmiley
What kind of handles do you use on your fire poi and do you do throws with them?
