Carry

When the poi spin only half a circle before changing to the other side of the body.

Comments

well, they're still making circles aren't they?

poi change side of body after only 180 degrees of rotation

is that one beat or a half beat?

i hate beats

I thought that was when you wraped then turned before the wrap finished, so it would be spinning in the same direction that it would be if you had turned.

in the UK we generally call those thru-wraps
i've heard non-uk people call them european wraps.
there must be a term for them on here...

i've never heard them called 'carries' although i can see how the name would fit.

Here's a pretty crude picture of my mate Rory doing what i call carries:
(or continuous longarm carries if i'm being pedantic)

well I've heard them as carry-over.. aka thru-wraps... but that was from HoP.. where I learned all the other bogus terminology that's completely different from everyone else.. Sphism/winksmiley that'swhy I avoided this thread..

a thru-wrap I also know as a half-wrap.. but carry itself, I thought refer'd to when it wasn't wrapped like when I carry the poi over.. a good example being when my right hand is spinning a forward circle on the left side btb.. as it comes up from the back I carry it to the the right side, and as it makes the top part of the circle move it in front of me to the left side of the body... as it begins to come back up, I move it to the right side and back over left.. so that it makes only one circle but is carried around the body.. kinda like what I do to get into my crossers.. I do my weave and then carry the poi over a bit further btb. kinda like a one poi offset..

Yeah that's pretty much the same I think...

Carry

A transition between two moves where the poi does not do a complete circle.

bleurgh blerugh bleurgh thats the nastiest definition ever to hurt my eyes. i'm surprised at you Mr X...
that could describe any number of non-carry things
and wtf is a transition? carries are moves in their own right thankyew

Howabout:

Carry
when the poi spin only half a circle before changing to the other side of the body.

Ok Sphism/gigglesmiley
