Glade festival

Well seeing as how I doubt I'll be going to Glastonbury as I'm moving this month and won't have any money for a ticket I was pleased to find out that the Glade people are doing their own 3 day festival in July... and my birthday is one of the three days, rah!

The lineup so far looks pretty cool as well Sphism/gigglesmiley

So I think I may be doing this Sphism/gigglesmiley

woop

that sounds wicked, looks like i may have found a reason not to go to glastonbury this year Sphism/smilesmiley

¦m¦

don't forget that spare ticket will go to waste then! Sphism/winksmiley

*cough*hint hint*cough*

So is this festival in the Glades? Sounds dead good....may have more plans for festies this year now!!

Cheers Spiralx! :7

Uh............. ok on the info it says , and I quote,

Quote:
5 stages will cover the genres – techno, progressive house, breakbeats, psy trance, live electronica and more

Ok so I'm like hey right on sounds killer, and then I see

Quote:
Squarepusher, Richie Hawtin (tbc), LFO, Hallucinogen, Eat Static, System Seven, Hybrid, Stanton Warriors, Silicon Sound, Rennie Pilgrem, Freq Nasty, Tristan and

I thought that alot of those guys were like....rock bandish , and lfo a boy band (curses)......someone set me straight I'm tripping right now what the heck is going on with this place?

There is an electronica act call LFO. I think.

lol kid,

you are trippin, thoes guys have nothing to do with metal.

they are however hardcore dance/electronic/techno/acid guys.

thats a awsome lineup, halluconogen for example is kinda like shpongle, is shpongle playing?

get there!

T

Squarepusher is experimental stuff, LFO is similar but more technoish, Richie Hawtin is a techno DJ, Rennie Pilgrem and Freq Nasty are nu-school breaks, Stanton Warriors are garage/breaks, the rest are all dance acts of one kind or another Sphism/smilesmiley

Hahaha my bad , thanks for setting my straight y'all hehe. That sounds awesome then!

Probably will go just to see squarepusher if its not extortionate

does anyone know the cost (even vaguely?) If cheap might be able to attend as well as glasto. Hallucinogen were amazing when I saw them (LAST NIGHT!!!!) Squarepusher are kind of Aphex Twin stylee aren't they?

No details yet...

Squarepusher is sort of like Aphex Twin yeah, industrial ambient breaks, jungle and noise Sphism/smilesmiley

Squarepusher are the dogs dangles.....but not quite on Aphex Level me thinks. But just imagine a gig where they supported each other!! That'd be sweeeeeeeeet Sphism/gigglesmiley

Its £68.50 and somewhere near Reading
Dunno when sales start
Should be going if its not sold out before mu next loan check Sphism/gigglesmiley

Tickets go on sale today if you are a member or tomorrow if you aren't.

Cool - Just spoke to Merlin who's organising the Fire shows and other random performancey things happening over the weekend.
Sounds quite cool, some international spinny type people are performing there which is going to be embaressing as they'll put us Burnt Toasters to shame

Oh, apparently, normal puntesr aren't allowed to bring Paraffin into the festival - I suggested we might have a few extra bottles for punters, but this could be a health and safety nightmare and I'm guessing as this is their first festival they're going to be very tight on this.

If you want to spin fire, you might have to be "vetted" to make sure you aren't going to kill yourself or others, unless you're known to someone there....

What a stroke of luck, Merlin is an old friend of mine from san francisco Sphism/smilesmiley

Bumped into her at glastonbury, looking forward to seeing her again at the glade. Guess i'll be taking my fire poi then Sphism/winksmiley

¦m¦

Oooo, I don't know Matt - not sure if you're ready for fire... Sphism/winksmiley

Sphism/gigglesmiley

Sphism/gigglesmiley

I'm going to out in the US till he 19th, but looking at the line up and the vast number of spinners going its going on the calendar for next year Sphism/smilesmiley - Have a great time :7

Chut

just been to look at your photos dude and i am soooo jealous! glad you all had fun tho... Sphism/gigglesmiley

to make me feel better, is anyone going to Psygate vs. antiworld at SE1 in august?

I belive me amd mike (psi) were discussing this.

Let you know nearer the time.

It was absolutely *AMAZING* indeed - i must say as much as i loved glastonbury this was even better because it was small and secluded - and three days of psytrance helped too Sphism/winksmiley

Lovely to meet and spin with lots of you people  hopefully see everyone again soon

hmm psygate vs antiworld sound wicked but unless its right at the end of august i wont be able to make unfortunately .. will check. But there are two synergy project nights on 16oct and 19nov which look tempting .. (i think this is the one we were thinking of, garthy ??)

Muchos fun Sphism/gigglesmiley

Was cool to spin with all you guys - and very humbling - when did everyone get so damn good?! Sphism/gigglesmiley

That was a scary festival - everywhere you looked you saw poi, just like at any other festival, but everyone here was isolating and hyperlooping instead of shitty 2 beat weaves

Ah well, more inspiration to start practicing again - hugs to all Sphism/smilesmiley

And that's a very bad picture of me, thanks Sphism/winksmiley

... or back tapping 8O .. matt, if you carry on like this you'll be poi-ggling siteswap soon ... Sphism/winksmiley

Mike

*wonders off contemplating over all the amazing tricks he's seen*

Yep, that was trully a blast.

Back in front of a pc and feeling a little worse for wear.

Ditto Durbs. The quality of poi was mind bending. I remember at one point oil was practicing his wibbles, I was getting some double wibbles down, Psi was doing some crazy tangle and Garthy was doing that insane butterfly tangle that goes through a corkscrew and out into a reverse butterfly. It all got too much and i had to take a break.

Great to see everyone,

Until next time.

¦m¦

Which is precisely why I've given up poi and am now focussing on Contact Juggling Sphism/winksmiley

Pesky youngsters, mumble, mumble mumble Sphism/gigglesmiley

OH! Big thanks to matt as put some of the videos of the glade fun up in the video gallerys.

my webserver just doesn't have the bandwidth.

Thanks Matt.

Nice one.

I think I have some more of you Double Wibbling somewhere but While I was uploading them I kinda got confused about what I'd put up already?!?

As I did it on the night I got back form the Glade it's hardly suprising Sphism/gigglesmiley

What an amazing way to spend my birthday! Sphism/gigglesmiley Superb good fun - great music, great venue, great weather, great people... great in fact Sphism/winksmiley

Nice to finally meet a few of you although there were some I missed... did less spinning than others I guess, although I certainly managed to get some new things down Sphism/coolsmiley

Roll on next year!

that was verrrrrrrrrry coool. i wanted to meet you spiral.. o well Sphism/smilesmiley

and how the hell do i get the videos from the gallery to work? i wanna see how messed up i look.

whose goin this year then? i can't wait, it's one of the few thoughts that's gettin me through my dissertation hell... Sphism/gigglesmiley

Well me obviously! Sphism/gigglesmiley

I wanna go... having trouble convincing my EBM mates to come with... should be able to drag a few peep sdown if I do go though! Just gotta get the time off work too...

Too late - tickets sold out last week... Sorry Sphism/sadsmiley

is it on again this year?

Bugger. Oh well!

19th May... :jedi

OMG im such a tard, i was lookin at the "joined" date not the "post" date LOL oops. ah well, next year! that looks damn sexeh

Yeah i didn't get tickets this year, they sold out way too quick, unlike last year where they took ages to sell.

It's s'posed to be a bit bigger this year but i dunno, i'm just not in the mood for festys this year Sphism/sadsmiley

no glade, no glastonbury for me

maybe Shambhala, maybe Big Green, but i've got no money and only 5 days paid holiday so i might do little this summer and bugger off to new zealand for the winter instead.
