What else do you spin?
I can do the basics of staff spinning, but it was such a pain in the arse carrying around a 4.5' stick that I never really could be arsed to learn more and have now sold my stick.
I do mean to pick up juggling this summer though, maybe I'll be better at it since I've started spinning poi and now I know people who can show me

I have 4 sticks... A four footer, just for odds and bodds and burning stuff; four-and-a-half foot contact staff, which I'm getting better at; and a pair of EVIL EVIL EEEEEEVVIIIIIILLLLLL three footers which hate me and try to run away from my hands at every opportunity.
Swords and quarterstaves when I can be arsed to go to Re-enactment practices (Eight foot long sticks; so much fun!!)
I'm also thinking about contact juggling and stilts (although these aren't really spinning!)

Well I'm learning contact staff and staff stuff quite slowly. Not spinning but I do contact juggle. I'm trying to learn how to juggle, and I plan to get some meteors.

I have a few random objects that I use as staffs (from bamboo to PVC pipe, nothing ideal--just things I've found). That's about it at the moment. I'm looking to pick up juggling at some point, and pretty much anything else I stumble onto.

I have done a few staff moves I've seen with a broom...including wapping myself quite hard..does this count?

Like a lot of poi spinners, I learn staff too (single, double, contact). But my favorite and first toy is club ! I learned swinging with clubs before pois and it's a good way to learn patterns ... I think ! :-D
Is anybody else using clubs ? There is no website about it ...
What is fun is that the patterns you learn with clubs, you can do them with pois also ... like snakes with clubs and isolations with pois. And vice versa...
Some tricks works only with po? like hyperloops, and some only with clubs, like roling and contact.
Now, when I learn a trick with one of these to toys, I try immediatly to make it with the other toy ! That's fun !! :-D

Club swinging is what came before poi... pretty much all of the stuff we do with poi nowadays comes from clubs, which came to the West when England ruled India. Terms like "cross follow", "fountain" and "waist wrap" are all club swinging terms...

As explain by Spiralx, club swinging is an old india discipline. Not very difficult to learn, just have to spend time to practice like po?r other juggling-spinning discipline. But it's funny ! You spin your club with the knob between fingers and do same patterns as po?But it's more paintul for wrists than po?r
Is there some people who plan to go the EJC in Carvin-France in July ?

I wanna learn to contact juggle.. that shit is soo sweet..
but what other things I spin.. well I got on MTV spinning bags last semester... Even though MTV is the bastard anti-christ of music.. they did sponser a free puddle ofmudd concert on campus.. so one had to attend the black mass of mtv for the joyous hymns of puddle of mudd.. very blasphemous I tell ya.. surrounded by I bunch of preppy cookie cutters and a few select other cool people just trying to get their rock on.. anyway.. mtv was giving away these bags of shit to people.. it had stickers and a dry erase board that people used as signs to right many horrbile things about mtv and their people.. LMMFAO.. so getting to the point (finish the f'ing story man- fear and loathing) I emptied my girl and I's bags out and dropped our wallets in them... gotta have some weight you know.. they were pretty thck double lined bags with draw strings.. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect length.. I couldn't do that many wraps for fear of busting the bag.. but I got 3 of the camera people over on the same side filming me...
yeah. so that's my story of how I gave mtv the finger and made national tv spinning freaking bags..
I'm known as the spinner of weird shit too.. I'm convinced anythign slightly stringy and slightyl anything else can be spun.. hell it doesn't even have to be slightly stringy.. the hotel I used to work at used big trash bags i the little trash cans.. so when you were done there was lots of excess bag... and it was only paper trash at the copier anyway.. so hell I've spun trash before.. I've even spun t-shirts in the blackligfht of a party that didn't allow glowsticks..

I forgot to mention pool noodles and drum sticks, I once tried to use a pair of drums sticks as clubs but I don't have any idea how clubs are suppose to be spun.
And like the last few posters I also hate MTV.

They also have a connection so I can (dis)connect them mid spin so I can meteor with them but I'm still finding it quite tricky to get it going smoothly between the two.

Some rubber glowing stars that have flashing LEDs inside and a string attached. I bought them at a local fair and we're only £1 each!
Apart from that anything I can find to swing....keys, shoes, bags or whatever takes my fancy if for some unknown reason my socks aren't in my pocket!!

what kinda objects can use use for clubs id like to get in club spinning but i dont want to buy them and contact juggling is that hard? are there any good websites for learning it?
all i spin is pois well i did a bit of diabolo aswell but since no one around me has one i cant do it anymore

I don't practice contact juggling but my boyfriends does ! And I think that the webstite www.contactjuggling.org is a good website to learn basics tricks with lots of videos.
The EJC (European Juggling Convention) is the biggest metting of jugglers (ans spinners, clowns, acrobats, musicians ...) in Europe. Every year in a new country : last year in Svendborg-Danemark ; this year in Carvin-France.
