I'm Catherine, but your totally fine to just call me poikid, whatever floats your boat really. Welcome welcome Sphism/smilesmiley Real great to see ya here, you seem to be amongst the few newer members that actually intro themselves, right on Sphism/gigglesmiley Well, I guess I'll cya around here alot more. Peace out man, have fun in France!

Hiya and Welcome to Spherculism.
So what's your favorite colour? More people should post their favorite color. I spelled it both ways. Sphism/gigglesmiley

i like lots of colours so i cant really tell u hmmm... red, orange and bit of green, blue somtimes and urself?

Hello there and welcome. Hope to see you around lots. Sphism/gigglesmiley

Ireland, huh? I'm from the U.S., and haven't been able to see much on the other side of the Atlantic yet. Someday, though.

So I hear more people should be posting their favorite colors. Which is really hard when you like a lot of colors. Blues, purples, blacks (there are just so many shades Sphism/winksmiley ), and silvers would probly be at the top of my list, though.

Howdy achluo! Colors eh? Sphism/winksmiley Okies. Mine's orange, ultimately, and not just the bright lufly one but also fall-ish orange or winterish orange, all shades really, tho for other preferred colors it'd be browns, greens, greys and tans...so I guess you could say its what you would find in forests maybe. I love natural stuff so.. yaah Sphism/smilesmiley Those overall. -waves at emigre and raven-

-Poikid-

p.s. i'll be sure and put that in my intro whenever I update it again

ORANGE :: ORANGE :: ORANGE :: ORANGE :: ORANGE :: ORANGE :: ORANGE :: ORANGE :: ORANGE :: ORANGE ::

Welcome aboard emigre, glad to be of inspiration. Tu habites en france, bon. Well that's about the limit of my french but never mind.

Good to have you around,

¦m¦

none those colours compare at all to the one like PURPLE!!!..

but howdyz anyways emigre :57

Blue is still my colour of choice- It seems to be the cliche'd favourite colour doesn't it? (A bit like 7 being lucky etc)

Blue Aerotechs on way soon! Sphism/smilesmiley

Chut

Mr Chut your colour choice is undeniable great. no cliche, it's just the best so most folks like it!

hi emigre, ca va? heh heh looks like my french is worse than Matts! Thank god you speak English hey!!

See you laters Sphism/gigglesmiley

Salut Zoe !

Bienvenue sur Spherculism !
I'm from France too. Where do you stay in France ?

About the translations of poi in French, there is few words. The most used is 'bolas' but you can meet people who call that 'chaines' (often for fire chains) or 'kiwidos' (like the label) ... There is a lot of peolpe in France how swing with kiwidos.

I heard that bolas is a south-american word, a rope with two drags you throw between the legs of a person or an animal to stop and block him ... but I am not sure of that !

If you travel around south-west of France, come to Bordeaux ! Good wine, sun and lot of jugglers ! Sphism/gigglesmiley And the ocean at a few kms ... Sphism/coolsmiley

See you !

Fr?rique

Hmmm ... for Achluo, my favorite color ... black I think !
Sphism/winksmiley

Hello there and welcome Sphism/gigglesmiley

Yeah I'm with you on the Bolos/meteor likening Spiral- the bolos (bolas?) were a bit shorter than a meteor would roughly be, and I think they were swung around whilst being held by one of the weights then released, so the weapon would spin toward its target with both weights carrying momentum to then spin around whatever they hit, usually tangling an animals legs.

There is an example of some Q-Branch bolos in one of the bond films (i Thinks its the living daylights)... they exploded on impact Sphism/gigglesmiley

What a random post... sorry for extensive digression..

Chut

Depends... some where spun by holding one of the weights, some were spun by holding the middle of the rope.

I think that Porthos used those in the three musketeers Sphism/gigglesmiley No, I'm serious

Funny you should mention that as I caught the end of that movie (wait...aren't there more than one?) earlier today. Didn't see that part though...

Teehee. Yah I think there are a couple versions but the one I'm thinking of has chris o'donald, charlie sheen, oliver platt and tim curry...well and lots of other main characters but what can i say, i'm bad with names

Trust me, I'm worse. Can never keep those actors straight. Sphism/smilesmiley

hiya emigre Sphism/smilesmiley

i may not be 100% correct, but i believe the correct french term for poi is "mes ballons de swingy swingy".

and my favourite use of a bola in popular media was William Shatner's "TJ Hooker" cop show Sphism/gigglesmiley

hehe, thats an original one where did u hear that from?

It is my mission to spread pinky purply goodness all over the world!!
