This thread is a way for you to list a few things that you think could improve our world and thus increase world happiness a notch.. I put this here because some of these things may bepositive, negative, what have you... I just noticed that some minor and some not so minor things can go a long way.. and I'd like to hear people's ideas on things.. not so much a what do you hate, but what could improve mankind as it were..
1: An Mtv delete button.. yes a magic button that would erase mtv from every mind from all time.. unfortunately things like the old school head bangers ball would have never happened.. but its a small price to pay for freedom from the pain its caused..
2: better hold time music... I wouldn't be so irate being put on hold for 4 hrs if some places didn't subject me to their obnoxious music.. I mean honestly.. there are times when I rather a dull solid 'DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO' then what's being played..
3: better education... yeah.. I think the world would most definately be a better place if we stopped lowering funding and the bar on education.. I'm not saying we need to make fewer people smarter and ignore the rest.. I'm talking making education better for everyone... I'm not expecting nuclear physicians at the drive through, just something more substantive, then asking me if my order of a milkshake was for here or to go.. and this is not just a rant on fast food, I just want everyone to have soemthing more..

Well, being a health person myself, I think that what would improve the world is to completely wipe out all fast food chains, especially from schools but also in general.
Also bettering the environment, stop producing nuclear crap so that we wont dump that crap into the ocean thus polluting our future source of food , water , medicines, etc etc.
To figure out a way to get %100 dependable solar or thermal energy so as to wipe out nuclear energy.

definitely with the education thing, especially in first world countries but sadly I feel to educate us all that much would put a crimp in many rich politicians pockets as they get money from all the bad they would educate us about, meaning they'd have to stop (with huge public support).

What'd I want instead?
1. Greater acceptance of others (+ their religions!) (and thus maybe no war)
2. A green easily reproducable fuel which doesn't rely on natural resources (and thus maybe no war)
3. Legalised drugs with greater education about the pros and cons so people can make their own choices
4. Every lock removed and destroyed in the world
5. The re-breakdown of the world into small communities with the internet and telecommunications being used to coordinate these communities.
6. No more weapons - spend it on healthcare.
I think it'd all come wth education if you can get the govt to spend it on that instead of uranium tipped bullets (was this rumour true from iraq anyone who knows?).

1: egos could be put aside.. If people didn't demand that america go off and fix everyone elses problems perhaps we wouldn't be so ignorant as to force our hand where it isn't wanted.. If for once we stopped giving a rats ass about everyone elses problems and focused on our own, we wouldn't be such hypocrits.. so what if they hate us in the middle east.. perhaps, and this is a thought, we shouldn't be there.. If we kept our nose out of their business and stopped talling them what they should do then they wouldn't have such a hard on for us.. I'm not saying what they are doing is right.. 2: progress and congress, should not be polar opposites.. what the founding fathers decided when they made this country is alot different then what the country is today... I'm sick of hearing what the founding fathers did or didn't want.. the founding fathers didn't want rampant teen pregnacies, and welfare checks going to people whose occupation is laying on their back shitting out children.. why is it so hard to get things accomplished in america.. In sticking with the founding fathers we have stuck by the one premise that we should have let drop.. that of the rich white capitalist male and his ability to dictate to his slaves what he wishes.. sure I amy not be black, but i take the corporate shaft just like everyone else.. I'm a slave to the ecomonomy.. I get told what I can and can't eat, when I can and can't do things, what I can and cant' do.. and told how much I'm supposed to like it.. I can see things haven't changed.. somuch for a democracy.. more like hipocracy.. regime change begins at home.
3: jobs paid what they deserved... I'm sick of people that make money for crap that they don't deserve.. sports atheletes getting paid to do what? play games? and what of celebrities? what ever happened to acting? why is it today that you get type cast for a part because you are what they are looking for.. very rarely do you see true acting inmovies and even then its usually by people that dont' get paid but a smidgeon of what the rest get.. sure back in the days movies had no plot, but since then they've only upped in glamour.. atleast then the lack of plot was filled with acting an purpose.. today the message is just, come to the box office because your lame and have nothing better to do.. and finally porn.. why is it that porn people make so much damn money... sex sells but damn.. It doesn't matter if you fat skinny, whiteblack, cute ugly sahved or hairy, there's someone that wants to see you.. I can't chekc my fricken email without being hounded by bigger penises, barnyard babes, and breast enlargement.. what gives.. All of this while the people and jobs that matter barely break into middle class..

Cancelling of Developing World debt... some people are born owing more to other countries then they will ever earn in a lifetime, hence the appalling state that some people are forced to live in due to the greed and hypocricy of some govornments.
More money to be put into research for medical purposes ... we could beat cancer if we would only spend some money on research into proteins, antigen/antibody reactions, targhetting of faulty genes, etc. (The cashflow could be in lieu of that going to crappy projects like Millennium Dome and London Eye... yeah, it's nice, but do we need it?)
The removal of all guns, bombs and other automatic weaponry. If we must fight, let's give everyone the same chance, ok?

2) comment on the world debt.. I think it should stand.. see the problem isnt that the poor countries have to pay this off.. I mean its not like they have to pay that much on it at a time.. but the fact that they are paying on it.. and its not a hand out is what is necessary.. teach a man to fish and all.. a lot ofthe problem that's grown out of american hypocrisy is that we are EXPECTED to fix others problems.. WE are not the UN... we may own most of the UN but we are not the UN and that's what it's for.. We have our own problems to work out you know.. which is where soe of that money sent to other countries could start doing wonders here for health care and education..

Well good riddance to this world then. If they had a reason to put me to death I'd be smiling as I gas out. Being a Christian I find death not at all scary or anything but as a release. Decades ago Teilhard de Chardin argued that mental activity on our planet was creating a kind of envelope of thought that was gradually covering the globe. He termed this the 'noosphere' and believed that at some point when we are all connected enough this sphere would form into a singular web of minds, creating some kind of overmind. Of which we would all be apart of and yet remain individual at the same time. This would be Omega Point and, well balls to everything else, we got this big fuck off thing that sticks us all as thinking entities together.
McKenna, trip head as he is, says similar things. He reckons that around Dec 2012 (my 31st b'day btw) some massive global event is gonna occur. Humanity as we know it will end. (he's got 'evidence' for it... search for time wave zero for more, it'll explain more than i can). Not end as in end, but humanity will cease to be what it was... get to something bigger.
Anyhoo, i diverge. These blokes (and more, look into it they're there) some how forsee similar things... In 21st C we are in a kind of birth process... can't remember that far back meself, but from loveliness of the womb to hell of the birth canal has got to be a bit of transition.
But at the moment perhaps we are in the birth canal, every thing seems well shitty - obviously there's war, then there's the fact that world's progressively getting fucked - oceans, atmosphere... the body been done over - we've got diseases that the holy land of medicine are puzzled about. More and more the paradise turns to shite.
The way through is forward, we've gotta remain the good people that i reckon we all are and just push on through. Maybe soon we'll all be given birth to into some amazing state that as yet we cant even comprehend.
Bloody hell... easily the longest post i've ever written! Probably still didnt even make proper sense but hopefully u get the jist. To be honest i dont care if peeps believe it or not (not sure i do, read the deatails - i only vaguely outlined) but any excuse for hope is a reason to hope and the day that hope is a bad thing then i really dont want to be here.

that theory as put may be new, but it comes form an OLD tradition...
all of our cells working togehter form a network, through a porcessor.. our brain.. but the cells themselves have their own internal networks.. and so forht however you choose to break the system down.. these networks like societies, etc.. eventually form a concept of the great mind.. it's a hives on different levels.. and since the world we peceive comes in through cells as data, on some smaller (binary-like) manner, the picture created from the data, ala the world, could very well be just this level of interpretation.. point being we comminicate and function up and down the gradation schema basically the same.. so the concept is not far fetched.. about the point I dunno..
considering our mind funciotns as a computer, and our body is really little more then a self-sufficient power source, that allows us to physically act.. no different the a ps2 control allows us interact with game environment... anyway, number of different beliefs have turned up relating the internet to beomce sentient, once so much information is put into it.. which for the sake of us all, I hope never happens.. I mean think of all the garbage there is on the net.. bleh..
oh yeah.. and to get back to my orginal point of this being old.. I think it was avaroees who discussed that all of our mental concepts, (objective/abstract thought), was knowledge from the great conscious.. learning something more rigorously meant that you got more accustomed to tuning in to that channel.. kinda like a program button on a radio..
people have even longer before and after thought of there being a great conscious so to speak.. most commonly the collective unconscious.. Waking life does a bit about it.. discussing how people learn things at the same time.. a popular example being darwin.. and the guy that thought it that didn't get famous lol.. that had the same ideas at the same point in history.. doing similar experiments..
now to get the thread on topic..
1) all seed popped liek popcorn.. could you imagine seeds that busted into little buds.. I think that would most definately improve the world.. and make for funny jokes too.. screw those mini explosive that pop in cigarettes.. put a seed in there and watch the cigarette bust open.. that would be so funny.. and the'd get a bud for bein gthe butt of a joke.. everyone wins..
2) selective process for nascar mementos.. I don't think it should be legal for people to cover their car in nascar stickers, and CANT DRIVE THE SPEED LIMIT... yeah so I get road rage.. but this... I mean common.. they need a bumper sticker on their car that says beware: hypocrit in action..
3) I could name a radio station... to the west of the mississippi broadcasting has K as their first letter.. now rock stations tend to get away with more things then most stations.. and I think it would be nifty to have KRAK rock fm.. all the rock you need.. the advertiseing ideas or endless..

the overthrow of mcdonalds to be replaced by a proper burger (colorado style) chain...or even better, for anyone who might ever have been there, the best burgers in the world are from PocoLoco in chamonix france, they have one called a big american, or grand americain perhaps....anyhow, 200grm beef, tomato, lettuce, bacon, cheese, sauce AND chips.... all in the bun, none of this fries on the side business, all in ONE burger...you have to kinda squash the bag it's in before opening it otherwise you can't fit it all in your mouth and it's delicious, fresh ingredients that day and freshly cooked in front of you, all for 6euros, that's about the same as a big mac meal over here which is mingin (haven't eaten mcD's for 8 months now and feelin well good).
I think fast-food is the scourge of the earth, though I used to love it. I think that ready-meals are a pretty poor subsidy for really home cooking and that possibly the ease of cooking our supposed meals in this day and age could be the cause for the division of the family unit as different meals can all be ready easily at different times, thus causing the family to eat at different times leading to (possibly) poorer group socialisation, leading to alienation of our youth and the breakdown of society...it's amazing what I can find in my pessimism somedays
