I hate this country
Yesterday i was swimming at a natural gorge with waterfalls near my hometown. I went there with some people from a college an hour away i just met the day before. As we were swimming one of the people got a call from people further up the gorge that a girl hadn't come up from under the water. After we got there the cops arrived. The "officers" who were dressed in flannel and had bud lights shirts on made us wait and wouldn't let us leave. The girl hadn't come up for 20 minutes now. The cops then have an escort come get us which takes over half an hour. Then we walked back to our parking area and received citations for the following monday to come to court. They still wouldn't let us leave and we followed them with a police escort to the police station which is a combination fire house, courthouse and police station. We waited in a hall upstairs for about an hour and a half waiting for something to happen. Then they started takin people 6 at a time to get arraigned yet our appearence tickets were for the comin monday not that night. When i was brought down someone who was just arraigned said they were giving people 3 days in jail and settin bail for tresspassing! This was ridiculus to me since i have many friends who have been caught swimming there wasted and with pot on them and only got drinking and or possession tickets. My dad had to come and bail me out 250 dollars for trying to lend help to someone who was hurt, on a trail that had no signs about tresspassing a parking lot you can park in with hours and trails that led ruight into the gorge. I hate this place so much so very much never move to America if you don't live here and move away if you do. I would rather spend the rest of my life in poverty happy then the rest of my life rich with most of the people over here with these wonderful laws and backwards ideals. :evil:
I also just had a great 5 days spinning for people that have never seen it and meeting scores of new people. So this really kinda ruined it. Sorry to b**** but i just think this is bs.

No it took them an hour to find her I'm glad i missed seein her at all and seein the body. It just really got to me cause i was the lucky one that got put all over the news on every station 3 different times. I think were gonna all get tickets when we go back cause i found out they didn't bring anyone to the jail for too long.

wow tahts really not cool rovo!...i'm sorry to hear about it..
i don't live in teh states..so i probably can't fully appreciate your woes...however one thing i will say is try not to let unfortunate situations (and by the sounds very unpleasant and perhaps full-of-themselves law enforcement officials) squash your spirit....thats the last thing you want to lose!

Dude... that's the nature of civilization... don't let these kinds of things bug you too much. A lot of Americans dream wistfully of other places, but every place has its rules, politics, whatever... Any time you put enough people together, there will be disagreements. It's human nature. Those cops were trying to cover their asses because if something happened, people would start asking them about how they handled the situation... about why they were allowing people to trespass there. It's just the system, which I don't think is neccessarily worse than any other system... it's just the nature of living with other people.

Just as a follow up I went to court this Monday for the tresspassing ticket. I ended up having to pay 0 and I am on a conditional discharge in the Village of Canjoharie for the next year. Also another side note. Last night my friend and I were stopped by an officer while walking to get some munchies. It was a little after 10PM. He said he was suspicious of us because there has been alot of kids breaking into cars lately. Personally, I think maybe the fact i was wearing a tye-die and had dreads had something to do with his choice in stopping us. He then had my friend empty out his book bag and searched through everything. He said he was looking for stolen property but then why did he ask if there was anything inside those empty cigarette packs and opened them up. He obviously was looking for drugs of some sort. Then he searchs both of us and he finds in my pocket a broken old comb and 2 dollars and in my friends an id and a pack of cigarettes. After keeping us for another 10 minutes to ask where we were going, where we were coming from, what we were doing that night and to tell us he doesn't want to catch us out on the street again (even though we are both 18 and have the right to walk around at night) he tells us we can go get something to eat now. Then as we are about to walk away i say "Have a nice night officer" and before i even finish he just turns around and gets in his car without even an acknowledgement that i said anything and this after he searched us for no reason with no result without even an apology for wasting our time. Gotta love the "law".

Achluophobia if i made a complaint I'm sorry to say it wouldn't do any good. It's a good thought but people suck where I live and i can't wait to get out of this place. If i did complain it would prolly just cause me more trouble with the police and thats the last thing i need right now. I just hope when i spin fire in the park across from my house tonight i don't have anyone bother me.
