anyway, i just signed up for this site, heard there were some great poipl here, and it seems i am right. Seen some amazing videos and tutorials already. I'm currently taking a poi class, and my instructor told me to come here and check it out, i am glad i did! I have a staff background personally, and am just starting to get into poi now.

I can do weaves and butterflys forward and backward, and TTN, and a few other things, but coming on here and watching people do behind the back 5 beat weaves just blows my head apart.

anyway, hope to learn a lot from you people!

-peace.

Hi there!

Before you know it people'll be learning from you. Sphism/winksmiley
I'm a fan of staff, just haven't gotten around to learning much yet. One of these days I'll get off my rear and get at it. Sphism/gigglesmiley

See you around.

So who are you taking classes from??

Quote:
harder. MUCH harder. you can't tangle a staff you know. I find you have to be much more fluid and plan your moves out more with poi, whereas with staff, i can just let er rip and do whatever i feel like without worrying about what is coming next.

Well once you get real good with poi then you stop thinking and just start moving. All in good time Sphism/gigglesmiley

Well now.

Since Briden has Introduced himself, and has mentioned my name... I may as well introduce myself

I'm Mike (Friend and Instructor of Brian) I go by many names, but I guess Canadian guy will have to do. I found this site a long time ago but forgot about it in the chaos that is life. I recently stumbled upon it and was truly enlighted I must say. But without further babbling a little about me.

Vital Stats:
hair: Brown and a little burnt
Eyes: always has glasses covering them
Sex: Yes please!
Other hobbies asides the obvious: Alpine skiing, Skeet shooting, Enjoying Raves and parties that are soooo LAZER.
Favorite Alcohalic Beverage: Sometimes "Canadian" sometime's the infamous Quebec Brewed "Maudite" or "La fin de la monde"
Goal: To become completely Spherculized in ways of Poi, Staff, And other toys.

I've basically had hardly anyone who was ever around to teach me poi, so I took it upon myself to learn the teachings from people off of the home of poi, with a lot of patience, and a pain to go with it. I'd just like to say resources like this are soooooooooooo helpful. It's hard to find the knowlege out there, it's good to have it all in one place. Although good practice sessions are always good to have too.

So that's why I'm helping Briden in his quest to seek more knowlege. Did I mention He kicks ass with a staff... not to mention the turn tables???

turn tables are so cool.

Yep, they sure are!

thanks for the intro mike, yeah your not so bad with the staff either my friend!

Here's a pic of me spinning down at the park, we bring the decks down and set them up on a picnic table by the river, it brings lots of people.

we hang out and mix and play hackey sack, frisbee, volleyball, etc, and also of course practice poi and staff.

Here's a few of me spinning staff:

goa Sphism/gigglesmiley
I love goa.

Eek it wont let me save that one you posted Sphism/confusedsmiley

Goa??? Whats that??

goa, is electronic music that came froma beach in India called Goa.
It's pretty much psycadelic trance. Very hypnotic, lots of melodies, kind of evil sounding I guess.

I spin techno mainly - lots of UK acid techno, bits of wonky and hard stuff as well. Getting into spinning breakbeat and drum and bass recently as well. It's all good fun Sphism/gigglesmiley
