One extremely belated intro...

[EDIT- Well I updated all this a few months back but the crash lost my update- seeing as I can't stand to read the shite I posted the first time, here is my new intro Sphism/smilesmiley]

Hello! I am Mr Chutney, also known as David. I'm 23, currently live in London, and have been here for the last three years as I'm a philosophy student at the University of Greenwich.

I have been spinning poi on and off since summer 2002- Once I hooked up with Spherculism and started spinning sock poi around Feb '04 my spinning suddenly started developing much faster that I'd ever expected- If any new spinners want to know how much sticking around on Spherc will do for your spinning, the answer is LOADS.

I'm alway keen to learn and experiment.

Toys: Poi (socks, aerotechs, tails, kids toys with ball chain woven in for handles, oddballs UV cone poi.. too many sets really)- a few acrylics (clear 4" clear 3" and UV responsive 3") a shitty diablo, a really nice Henry's Jazz diablo, a devil sticks set, juggling balls....

My poi are my real 'skill'- the others are all things I'm wanting to play with more and more but as yet they're a re taking a back seat (my contact is improving slowly Sphism/smilesmiley)

Other than poi I'm a choral singer and I love cars and gadgets.

I love Spherculism, and look forward to meeting as many of you as I can Sphism/gigglesmiley

Hey Mr. Chutney!!!!

OK - so I'm not in Mass, but I am in NYC. And I know of a huge fire spinning event that's to take place in Vermont in July - so when exactly are you gonna be here - it could be an excellent venue for your fire coming out party .....

Thanks for taking the time to write yourself a self-indulgent Sphism/winksmiley little introduction.

Hey. I though you made an intro too.
I tried juggling, I never could get it, no matter how much I practiced.

Hey David!

Yay that you have an intro! I know I looked back over mine just shaking head at how much I talked about myself...ah well, thats what intro's are for eh?

Eek I feel ya on the going public thing, but no worries, I feel sure you'll be spinning your usual amazing way despite them Sphism/smilesmiley

Oh, welcome Sphism/winksmiley

So what is choral singing?/

-Poikid-

Choral music is probably best described as classical vocal music (thats actually a really lame description but I'm tying to make it as simple as possible).

Its the kind of stuff you'd expect to hear in churches (indeed much choral music was created for use in church settings- Mass, Requiems etc etc). It has a choir usually of at least 4 vocal parts, Soprano Alto (both traditionally female) and then Tenor and Bass (male). The Soprano is the highest and Bass is the lowest. I, for the record, am a tenor Sphism/smilesmiley

Any clearer Poikid? Failing that I could email or IM you a couple of pieces Sphism/smilesmiley

Chut

Ah

Much clearer thanks Sphism/smilesmiley Thats really cool man! Yaah you'll have to send me a clip Sphism/winksmileySphism/gigglesmiley

So hows your spinning going??

-Poikid-

This guy's a kick ass teacher... thanks to him (and those glow sticks), I was infected by the poi bug at the aforementioned chorale festival in the berkshires.

Small world. Sphism/gigglesmiley

We'll have to get John on here as well- a BCF second home eh? Sphism/winksmiley

sweeet! Good man!

What are you singing at the mo- Our choir is doing the Haydn Nelsom Mass and some Tippett pieces Sphism/gigglesmiley

wer doing Vivaldi's Gloria, theres soem real explosive peices in there =D

Pah, thats nothing compared to ther Verdi Requiem Sphism/gigglesmiley- I sang in it last March- Full orchestra, double Brass section, monstrous percussion.

Dies Irae was absolutely unforgettable (as was the Copland 'Fanfare for the common man' which was played just before the Req')

Love the new avatar BTW Sphism/winksmiley

hehe cheers,

well, this is only the 4 part chapel choir from magdalen college, nothin fancy like that lol we've got a 70's rocker on the piano and 2 bass singers lol, sounds awesome nevertheless =p

Jim

Techno- you sung the Haydn Nelson Mass?

I'm learning it at the mo and its a bugger, though not as bad as the Britten Te Deum in C

grr

Test post for my signature graphic

the easiest way may be with actual HTML instead of bbcode.

at least i don't think that image ID is helping..

well i added a bbcode img tag to my signature but doesn't seem to do a lot
