boom festival - portugal 26.8.04 - 30.8.04

'lo anyone, just seeing if there are any other spinners heading to this psytrance festival in portugal? It's a biannual event with 12000 trance fiends heading out there for 2002.

I'm the only spinner going with quite a large group of friends from uk so if anyone wants to meet up then let us know! Also any advice/warnings for transporting fire poi + fuel...is it possible to get it over on flights or will i have to buy out there? Does anyone know portuguese for paraffin?

got some brazilian friends for the portuguese translation

Probably be staying some days before and after the festival (around the region, or in Lisboa)

i don't think i'll be able to make it but don't take that as set in stone, i might yet make it!
As for boom, am getting there sometime on 25th and staying in the area/lisboa till the 4th with some friends who don't spin. Definitely up for meeting, will let you know bout the ejc

Hi,
I'll be coming over to the Boom as well with a couple of friends and it would be great to meet other spinners out there and share our experiences

I think I still got a lot to learn, although I'm finaly getting a bit of hyperloopery done Sphism/winksmiley

as for the Parafin, I don't think you'll be able to take it along in the plane, but there is bound to be a place over there where you can buy it....
And I'll at least be bringing along a few liters of it by car Sphism/smilesmiley

The plan for me is to arrive sometime on the 25th of August, so I can get at least one day of rest before the festival begins. (Need to drive the whole 2000km from the netherlands to there myself since nobody else has a driver's licence...)

A late message on the joys of boom!

Lo all and anyone who attended!

Sadly lost my fire poi on the third day so didn't have any for the grande fire finale but lotsa people chipped in lending me some! If you weren't there, there was a main dance dome with 4 smaller uv domes round the outside (where i spent almost the whole 5 days with my little mice poi!) and the finale was 50+ spinners (some poi, some staff, some double staff, one guy on stilts with a hula hoop with a load of fireheads and a few fire breathers) all come in on the little stages from four different corners of the festival and then completely encircle the whole stage...

During the five days i saw some absolutely amazing spinners including some kiddies with some aerotech clubs and staves! Learnt a few new tricks (buzzsaw butterflies into stoppies and into buzzsaw weaves!!!) but mainly improved my timing to music cuz there wasn't a minute when there was none playing!!!!

So we've probably seen each others' but not met
There was a whole bunch of badass poi spinner, there Sphism/smilesmiley
and some of the best professional fire performers.

I had similar issue with my fire prop:
I arrived on the site tuesday eve, just before they openned the gates and decided to have a run with my newly repaired double-staff !
I shouldn't have Sphism/sadsmiley so no staves during the Boom except the ones I was able to borrow
and even worse:
as my monkey-fist poi died a week before the Boom, I did some new cathedral-stack ones .. which worked pretty well (though a bit heavy: 2m per poi head) until friday .. I was doin' a run with loads of people sitting around, when one of my poi-head flew away, and landed 3m away from the audience :roll: :oops: :roll:
it burned away during 10 mn .. freaky bonfire

hopefully I was very lucky 8O
.. and had some robust back-up fire poi
so no more cathedral-stack for me .. or I'll have to improve the design
and try it many times before any perf

appart from that .. my best memories in terms of festival / parties / people meet / weather ... blahblah
