horzontal hyperloops

I was looking through the hyperloop tutorials earlier today and it inspired me to start messing around with them after a bit i came up with the idea of doing a hyperloop on the horzontal plane so i gave it a try and it worked (well about 1 in 10 tries). The idea is to go from a corkscrew and tangle the poi at the top bring them into the centre for afew beats and untangle at the bottom.

So Matt I was wondering scence your poi is miles better than mine is that something you can do and just haven't put up yet or could i have come up with a new move (thinking that quite unlikely but you never know).

Cheers

Tim

just throught this might be better in the hyperloop forum ar well i'll post it in both

Horizontal Hyperloops are great fun.

I've only been doing them about 2 months max. I just clean forgot to record them during that video shoot.

They are a really good way to learn hyperloops actually 'cos gravity kinda helps you.

The one I do most tangles at the top, does 2 beats like a horizontal buzzsaw then untangles below my arms. You can also rotate your arms whilst in the tangle (in the same direction as the poi) this produces an extra beat or two and you kinda come out of it like a '5-Beat Weave Wrist Twist'. This can also be done in a vertical plane but is much trickier.

You can do double ones as well, so the tangle lasts for 4 beats instead of 2. To do this I move the whole lot up and down to 'Jump' beats 3 and 4 back above my arms (instead of untangling below)

The best one though is tangling at the bottom and untangling above, to do this: BEFORE you tangle you've gotta let the poi drop down low, bounce them upwards just before the tangle. Tricky but great.

A quick note about 'inventing moves': It is unimportant whether or not you were the first person ever to come up with a certain move. I tend to find that new moves present themselves to poiple all over the world at about the same time.

However, what IS important is that you DISCOVERED that horizontal hyperloop without anyone Telling you. This process is far more admirable than staking claim to a move. So well done, give yourself a pat on the back. I find that if I discover a move myself then I truely UNDERSTAND it, getting a really firm Understanding of how hyperloops work is very important. Keep up the good Work.

Have fun,

m

Not too worried about not being the first to think of them they're far too nice for people not to have thought of them by now. Also i'm fairly familar with this kind of thing in juggling and staff (which are my main time wasting occuption) epshally in juggling you think of a new trick only to find out that someone written a book about that family of tricks!
Anyway cheers for the variation, i was wondering if it could done bottom to top as well but thought i better get better at the one where gravity helps first.

I learned mine going from bottom to top. I didn't think much about doing it from top to bottom.

I started mine bottom up.... and found it easier to do it like a hyperlooping buzzsaw movement just because of the timing..

example: counter clockwise corkscrew..
I'd have the strings tangle at the bottom as the left poi is swinging from up from the bttom and the right poi is coming down.. the left poi then passes over the left arm (12:00->9:00->6:00) then under the right arm (6>3>12) then under the left arm(12>9>6) and then over the right arm (6>3>12) and then over the left arm (12>9>6).. put in a flower and then your ready to go back down.. which is admittably harder, but just takes practice... I particularly love this one isolated, but I'm not that good with islation yet, so I don't get it to work right all the time..

never thought about doin it from top to bottom either, must rely much more on feel than sight for that one. Flid was talking a while ago about throwing from the corkscrew hyperloop, but all my attempts thus far end with the poi flying 20 feet in separate directions, guess it would work for the 4 beat  Rev, you gotta explain this one a little more tho..You talking about horizontal isolations? Horizontal Flowers I can see, but the isolated part w hyperloop 8O

ok... first the off topic part... ok the corkscrew buzzsaw will go up and down not really doing any beats ouside the top and bottom... and its really cool looking... with a counterclockwise turning corkscrew buzzsaw it isolates like a reverse weave going up and like a forward weave coming down... that's the same motion you will use to isolate the horizontal hyperlooping corkscrew buzzsaw thing...

I hate using words like that.. but names begin to just fall down after a while...

basically... the 4bt corkscrew (hyperlooped) going counter clockwise... now imagine the clock as being flat in front of you, not like in the wall plane... I have a video of this but its not very clear... it was taken in the french quarter during some bad fog back when I was still relatively bad at it... but.. if matt doesnt have a vid of one, or doesnt make one, I'll send it up... anyway...

so since you're doign a 4bt corkscrew its possible to do a seperation at the top and the bottom of the corkscrew... when you do the one at the bttom it puts the left poi moving from 9:00->6:00->3:00 contact.. it should be coming slightly upward angle, the right poi moves 3:00->12:00->9:00 in its orbit coming downward.. now instead seperate orbits (clocks) we now have one clock motion... because they are tangled.. and this will put the left poi coming over the left hand around the 9:00 as it moves from 12->9->6 [keep in mind that the right poi is following in this orbit keeping the split time motion] now around the 3:00 position it will move -under- the right hand as it moves 6->3->12.. ***this move involves your hands moving.. unlike the normal hyperloops... here your hands move higher or lower to dodge the poi.. the poi have upwards momentum, so you have to dodge the poi as it movees up.. you'll understand when you do it.. but its because of the buzzsaw.. so back to our description...*** the poi just passed under our right arm and as it goes from 12>9>3 it will cross -under- our left hand at the 9:00.. and then go over the right arm at 3:00 and then over the left arm at 9:00... at this point they should be undone/untangled and outside the top..

just repeat the steps to go back down... I cant seem to do it withoutgoing up with hands at 3:00 and 9:00 and come down with hands at 12: and 6: ish... but they say it can be done... Sphism/winksmiley
