...actually, it is, but i just wanted to catch your eye and feel special.
I'm Roc?(female), 19 and living in Mexico City. I haven't been spinning for a long time, perhaps a month and a half or so. I found this website a couple of weeks ago, and ever since i've been checking it almost everyday to find a new move i could do. Right now i'm trying to find a somewhat comfortable and good looking way to do a 7 beat weave, but i smacked myself yesterday and now i have a huge bump on my head.
Besides that.... i'm studying medicine, actually i shouldn't even be online because my finals are starting next week but i'm somewhat obsessive compulsive and i can't let go of my poi. Favorite color is purple. And i like...well, i guess what everyone likes, music, movies, reading, going out... I like Infected Mushroom, Astral Projection, BT, Prodigy, Massive Attack, and lots of other non electronic music (Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Placebo, Our Lady Peace...). Anyways... I guess that's it.

Even if you have your finals, don't let your poi ! They can help you to think to other things and evacuate stress.

Good luck with your Medicine. I started poi during my finals and found it the only way to relax and re-energise. But too much of a good thing can be bad
Forget the 7 beat weave, it's of little importance. Controling your planes however is the skill you should try to master, even on the 'simplest moves'

I've never seen a 7bt and also never heard of one being done nicely so if you manage it make sure you get it on video!
Matt you're soooo right about planes, I've even taken to practicing in a narrow hallway to get my virtical ones nice and straight!!

Hiya. Welcome to the site. I see you answered the most important question.
I can do a bit fo a 7 beat weave, it's very sloppy since I rarely use it, and most of the time it has a very small thru wrap on it.

Iprefer the thru-wrap version of the 7bt weave.. its MUCH more fluid then the elbow over elbow... althought I still do elbow over elbow with the forward occasionally for effect...
and I have to say I think the 7bt IS useful... having an extra beat after twisting up flowers and seperations is hella fun, especially btb... I just don't think it caught on ebcause of the whole elbow/wlbow or thru-wrap thing..

Mathias : Lol. I love "Le petit prince", i must have read it a dozen times. Oh, a friend of mine was living and studying Terminale at Annecy last year. We met at the Lyc?Francais here in Mexico, and he said he was pretty happy at Annecy.

umm yes the thruwrap version of the 7bt works.. its uber simple and better at keeping proper time.. besides its the ONLY version that works btb with any sort of comfort...
basically think of thru-wrapping at the wrist.. thus letting the poi chain continue where you wish your wrist could twist.. bring the hands to the other side and let it untwist as per the thru wrap and then untwist your hands.. cake..

Can you spin whilst studying? I've been trying it out.. pinning notes to the wall and spinning whilst reading them. Or pretending to read them. What do you think?
