Double Staff & Four Days of Fire

So, I went and checked out some videos on poiinthepark .... and I'm not IN LOVE with the double staff. So much so, that Deet and I went to the home store on Saturday, and by Sunday night we each had a set made and lit them last night!! So beautiful and fun and H-A-R-D.

I'm excited to try a new toy. I'm pretty sure that poi will always be my first and truest love, but I'm a bit of a wuss near the flames. Playing with different toys (I hope!) will make me more comfortable with fire near my body. Already last night, after playing with my staff (I'm not ready to do two at once yet Sphism/gigglesmiley ) Deet said my poi was already noticeably better - keeping my circles closer to me and such.

This has been such an amazing weekend. We spun for hours on Thursday and Friday and Saturday and Sunday nights. Not to mention all the daytime practice with our toys new and old. We even performed for a big party on Saturday night. So I'm exhilarated and exhausted today. And so fed up with my job!!

So, basically, I guess I'm just rambling about how excited I am right now - about poi and fire and staff. There really isn't a point to this post at all - I just wanted to talk to people who would understand my grin - and my exhaustion - today.

Out of curiousity, how much were they??

I can't identify too much seeing as I dont do fire nor staff but either way... that is fantastic and have fun :mrgreen:

We MADE them. So I haven't figured out the total cost for materials yet, but I am VERY PROUD. I've never bought any pre-constructed fire toys. I make all my own poi - and now I've figured out how to make staves.

Now all I have to do is figure out how to get rich from this Sphism/gigglesmiley

Sphism/gigglesmiley Coolness. I've played with staff a little bit and it's lots of fun, but I need to make/buy/somehowacquire a decent one before I really get into it. (Been using bamboo, pvc pipes, and other random found objects)

I'd love to hear about how you made your staff (if it doesn't disrupt any money-making schemes Sphism/winksmiley ).

Raven - I don't mind sharing with you guys. Actually - Deet & I did a cool thing - we took photos of each stage of construction, so that we could remember exactly what we did, in case anything went wrong, or share how-to if all went well.

As soon as I download the photos and write up some commentary, I'll post a link.
