Thats what i was thinkin. I think i'll prob need some sort of insurance to use fire, but ill prob just stick to socks if i give it a go at all..

when i first got my poi i was spinning whilst dancing down the street (v v v drunk) ended up spinning for a group of 30 somethings coming out of a pub and they gave me a tenner! The market's there...

i've had similar experiences in nightclubs - it gave me the idea. But i think sober shoppers might be a harder market to crack

Umm before commenting..
What exactly is 'busking'??
Busking
street prefoming.
Preform on the street, and ask for cash. Not saying your going to get it.

put a hat down on the street, perform near it, hoe some people put money in it and others don't run off with it.
Busking
Oh.. doi.
Well dunno about the uk but here it's no problem. Most of the time anyway

someone told me you call it panhandling in the states. that made me laugh.. do they hold out frying pans over there? whatever it is, i did it the other night with fire and a friend playing sax, it was great fun and we got some money. then some drunken fool came over and bought my glowsticks off me for .

man you can go to the quarter... down by jackson square.. I love spinning down there.. I never put a hat out though... even though some good days I wish I would have.. lol..
Busking
Yeah.. Here in the States its "Panhandling"..
Although i belive panhandling is different than street performing. A "panhandler" generally just holds up a sign.

Busking is awsome. And the halifax buskers fesitval is nearly worl renound. I've never seen a poi spinner in the actual festival, but I'd love to see one. I'm pretty sure that you do need a lisence, and my advice, bring along some music so that you're not just out there spinning poi. music is the key to busking, people can hear it, and then they see it. But don't put out a sign, just a hat, or a box or something. Best of luck from me!

You only need a license in some cities, Durham for instance has it's own bucking licence so people can busk in the town centre without buying their own licence

Amazingly, in my state, no licence is required for busking! My friends and I randomly appear in high-traffic places in the city and perform fire, the girls dancing around with the tip-jar, and then dissapear into the night only to pop up elsewhere. It's wonderful fun and I highly reccommend it. I've never made too little to have dinner, and I have never seen another busker in Indy.

I've been thinking about doing a bit of busking myself but I have heard that you need insurance to do fire in a public place over here (UK), anyone know any more about this/is this a load of bull? If I do need insurance how much would it set me back/where could I get cover from?
Busking
i heard that u need insurance. but i know loads of people that spin fire out and about, it might be a slightly different situation if your busking tho. try google
