how do i stop the pain??
hi all, i need some help with h.loops...
my problems is that when i go into a h.loop, the tip of the poi (sticklights in my case) hit my arms or even worse, my fingers, and it HEARTS!!
how can i privent them from hitting me and make them do a normal h.loopair wrap?
(also ive been trying to hit the strings in all kind of places, close to handles, in the middle ets. but it didnt help...)

What h'loop are you trying Ed? Refer to the tutorials vis and reprot back, then we're in business
Chut

Okat. Try starting the tangle closer to the head of the poi then you are now so that the ends aren't long enough to hit you.. Another idea, would be to make yourself some nice soft sock poi to practice these with, since they can let you learn the technique without hurting yourself.

ive been trying the "across the body" h.loop...
there is another problem, when i do get the loop it seems to unwrap too fast (somewhere in the middle when i move the whole thing from side to side) is it supose to do so?

because the poi strings are made shorter by the tangle, the rate of spinning increases... imagine two cars going round circular tracks at the same speed, if one of the tracks is suddenly shrunk in size (but the car isn't) it will start doing laps much more frequently than the other one - it's spinning faster than the other!

The strings aren't made shorter by the tangle as long as it's the simplest kind... they're just bend through 90 degrees at the tangle. But if you pull on the poi it'll speed them up - so make sure you keep your hands the same distance apart throughout the hyperloop!

OMG spiral no....
they most definately shorten... anytime a tangle occurs.. the diamter of the poi orbit decreases realtive to the point at the tangle.. this never does not occur... (yes double negative, it means it always shrinks)
the poi are moving from a point of rotation somwhere around the wrist/hand, further down the string reducing the length from pivot to head.. this thereby reduces the orbit of the poi drawing them closer together.. the effect is that the poi speed up and thus the timing on getting them across is different.. this is why I tell people start near the handles then work your way out.. because at the handles the amount of change is reduced to near 0..
also pulling the poi handles apart will help to speed them up as well.. this is because again you move the pivot closer to the poi head and thus bring the poi closer together... anytime this happens the extra speed helps to balance them.. ala the gyrascope betwen your hands..
edit.. just for reference the poi orbit during a weave has a diameter poi to poi as well.. (well split time anything which is what tangles and what not are..)
