Also, I'm on my way out to seattle for about 6 months, if anyone's in the area I'm always down to meet..

Ello there :57

Hiya welcome around. classical fencing? Cool.
So have you got a favorite colour?
How do you find whips? I really like them, never got to use one before though.

hmm, charcoal would be the color of the week Sphism/winksmiley

whips? alot of fun while you still have plenty of excess fuel on them for the fireballs made when you crack them. Otherwise not something that pushes me technically as staff or poi, except perhaps once you get into multiple cracks in succession(ie cracking in one direction then immediately pulling back into a crack in the opposite direction). Then it gets incredibly hard. There's something really satisfying about absolute placement down to the millimeter with whips, say enough to pop a bug off a branch without disturbing the branch eh. Not up to the level of being able to have that amount of control for several cracks in a short amount of time, or from any angle yet either, one day mebbe Sphism/gigglesmiley

waves to spiral too

hey indy, do you make your own firetoys or buy them from somewhere? are there any online resources for whip or have you just learnt everything from the aforehinted film series?

Welcome!

Hey musashii Sphism/smilesmiley

Your a boarder eh? Right on Sphism/gigglesmiley Same here. This'll be my second full season once the lifts open up. Only rode once last season.

Coming to seattle? We definitally gotta meet up! When will you be here?? If this week we should meet up at the bite of seattle. If not...we still should somewhere Sphism/gigglesmiley

Well it's great to have you here. Look forward to seeing you around alot

Hi Pollenski,

The only fire tools I've made has been staves, fingers, eating torches, designed our fans but I didn't weld them, wasn't my MIG to use Sphism/winksmiley For whips, I got mine from Riz(firewhips.com). He has a training vid, and I'm willing to bet you can google up some regular whip instructions or definitions of the different cracks/pops, but I just used to mess around with them alot when I was in high school, so I'm mostly self taught. Dunno who else makes fire whips but I can attest to Rizs' craftmanship, it's an excellent whip.

Whats up? Yeh, I learned that the best way to make it through seattle's gloomy winters is to board Sphism/winksmiley. Have been to Hood, Stevens, Snoqualmie(used to live there too, man I miss that), and Whistler in that area, but I still hear Bakers the meanest terrain. Hoping that Whistler still has some snow left when I get there, it's been three LOONG years since touching a board. I'm thinking I'll be there in about a week, hopefully less. Just have to get the car in shape for the trip. Bite of Seattle is this weekend, right? Really want to make that, Pyrosutra's going to be performing out there, I'm interested to see who is in the troupe now, not to mention they put on a helluva show  But eh, if not at Bite then definitely sometime, I'll be staying in Redmond. You wouldn't happen to know if they're still throwing parties at the SuperHighway, would you?

Hey man

I'll be boarding at Stevens prolly this whole winter. Wouldn't have the money to go to the other ones. I hear Stevens is pretty nice. Haven't been up there yet, I spent my one full season in Brianhead, UT. Rode near every day cause the lift was 5 mins away Sphism/gigglesmiley Good times ya know?? My one ride this past season was down in South Lake Tahoe. Great terrain over there. The backcountry is a real treat Sphism/gigglesmiley
So far I've heard that , atleast right now, Stevens is getting snowfall near every day so it's constant powder...mmm... wikked winter is coming  (which means very forgiving terrain for going off those boulders your not ready for..)

Heres hoping you can make it for the Bite! Yup it's 16th through the 18th. My sisters and I plan on being there atleast on the 17th, thats an absolute must though we want to be there the whole weekend. Yaah I found out about it from Pyrosutra's site. Should be a great show Sphism/gigglesmiley

Catch ya later

-Poikid-

Stevens is pretty nice..decent drops, plenty of good terrain(wonder if they have a full park yet), alot of lesser used trails on the back side to find powder that no one might have touched that day, and they should still have night skiing..ahh good memories

Tahoe back country? sheesh, lucky you Sphism/winksmiley Doesn't get much better than that..Blackcombe might come close, but you don't see as many movies made there

finally made it, 72 hours later..my car sounds funny..

Lol

Pyrosutra gave a great show

oi, I'm going to practice with them tommorrow, mebbe I can mke up for it Sphism/sadsmiley really wish I could have made it sooner tho..howz your schedule for a spin? have time for a week or so til I start this position

hey Musashii!

Are you going to burningman this year? I for one am really glad that Tabasco and Kari from Pyrosutra have moved to the Bay Area. Tabasco's already been involved in organizing the Fire Arts Festival here.

Classical fencing?!? How is that different from modern fencing? Which weapon do you fence?

So are you guys telling me there's snow in July up there?!? I didn't get to do any boarding at all this season! I've skiied/boarded all over California, and once in Japan, indoors... maybe we need to organize a spherculish snowboarding poi spinning gathering? Hmm... can you do both at the same time? I've rollerskated and spun at the same time, but I hit myself a lot.

(end of babble)

Orbit

Hello Musashii!

Hey dude

:17

hey orbit,

dunno if I know Kari, but I think tabasco is sorely missed around here already Sphism/winksmiley BurningMan, *sigh*. I had plans to go, had a camp to stay with, everything was all set. Then this contract in seattle came up, and dashed any hopes of going. Tradeoff eh, it's worth it tho just to be back in seattle - as opposed to the deep deep south.

Classical fencing? I guess you could call it period fencing as well, describes the art slightly better. Classical fencing is recreating(pre renaissance mostly) styles and weapons as closely as possible. For instance sport fencers fence on a line, using very light weapons, and scoring is scored electronically. Classical fencing is staged in the round, the weapons are heavier(and employ alot more of your fancier guards as well, like your swept hilts, and quillons are actually used, blades are 4X as thick as normal foils/epees), and the point system is realistic, ala classical dueling rules(entire body is a target, draw cuts are used, etc). Much much more fun than regular fencing.

There's snow up in canda still in july, might be on Mt Hood in Oregon too, pretty sure washington has shit for snow now tho. Board snow meet/ spin? sounds killer..Dunno if I'd want to mess up boarding by trying to spin at the same time, sides I ride too agressive to do anything but. Hood would def be the place to meet tho, hmm..

Hey man

My schedule's pretty loose. I'm open near any day of the week so.

Boarding spinning gatherine.. hell yah. I prolly wouldn't do them both at the same time.. it'd take away from the ride. But take a few runs then spin for a while then ride..then spin..ride..spin.. I'm up for it.

kewl, I think I'll be free for the rest of the week too..will know tommorrow

Hey, someone else sprinkles small bits of Japanese on the forums for once. Sphism/gigglesmiley Although the bit in my signiture probably shows up as little boxes or random characters or something to most people 'cause they don't have the font. I really don't know.

日本語が好きですか? (Nihon'go ga suki desu ka?)

Welcome, welcome.

Hey Musashii,

I'm the same idiot that posts on the poi and fire forums all the time on tribe.net, in case you didn't make the connection...

Roger / Orbit

absolutely, I recognized the icon Sphism/winksmiley If you ever get back to seattle, let me know. I won't be able to make it to burning man due to this current contract, ruined my plans for going Sphism/sadsmiley Otherwise I'd say I'll meet you there
