tangled gumbies

basically this is just taking a tangle from in front to btb... and then btb to in front.. which mimics and uses the hand motions of a basic form of a gumby...

I'd post the animated gif of the gumby being discussed, but I don't have permission to..

anyway.. what I do have are clips that will at some point be up here.. spherc and my computer are not getting along..

in the meantime you can either get them from me or follow this horrible description..

begin with a counter clockwise spin.. take the left hand under the right elbow.. and take the left elbow over your head.. (your right arm should be twisted somehwat intowards the body).. the tangle will pass under your right armpit to btb... you can either stop there and spin btb or retangle between the shoudlerblades.. (like in my giant btb twist post in the future thoughts) this involves the left arm coming up from the waist btb and the right arm coming down behind the head.. link.. and then bring the right elbow over head.. and the rigth hand around and under theleft elbow.. the tanlge will pass under the left armpit.. and you are now back up front..

This stuff is really cool. Sphism/gigglesmiley
I though it was you in the gif though. Sphism/confusedsmiley

three fun tangly things..

the first has been covered already by me in some other threads I'm sure.. but it involves turning a tangle from vert -> horizontal -> vertical (only spinning opposite direction from the orginal vert)

the second is taking a tangle from in front to btb... or from btb to in front.. or both.. as described above..

the third is a tanlge that spins around the neck.. in the TT2 vid they take an orbital around the head.. this is kinda like that only horizontal...

some things to keep in mind..
1) your hands must move.. you need to be comfortable enough with your tanlges that your hands have freedom of movement.. I like to think of it as spinning with the tangle.. kinda like when you isolate tangles..
2) the descriptions suck because well its jsut hard to describe plain and simple..
3) if you use aim (revtheraver), yahoo (raver4202000), or msn (phramulo@hotmail.com) you can get clips of all of this stuff.. files range from 243k to about 500k meaning its lowbandwith friendly.. and thus you don't have to worry about the crappy descriptions
4) if anyone knows how to dropkick spymac into letting me use the 100mg hosting space, pleaselet me know and these will be put in a much easier to access place..

happy spinning

8O ow, my chin just hit the desk...
have just created a new folder called jedi purely for these videos!

v impressive!!!

Oooh oooh oooh! I like these! Sphism/gigglesmiley

Nice one Rev, now I've got something to practise!

Just had a quick spin and can get the front->back hyperloops ok. Not tried back->front yet... there's definitely not enough room in the bathroom here at work! Sphism/gigglesmiley

Can get part of the 2 axis thingy... enough to change direction I think but not quite as nicely or continued as you do it.

I'm jsut glad people can see what I was on about...

the thing is though... that axis turn.. is the hardest thing I know... however... I feel its not complete.. in order to make the ball I wanted.. I need to get it to last longer so that I can take it vert -> hor -> rev vert -> rev hor -> vert.... 3 out of 5 aint bad.. but I want the whole deal..

Played a bit more with these last night (and smashed my light bulb in the process Sphism/winksmiley) and see where they're coming from. Lots of room for experimentation here...

coleman pointed out something on hop that made me understand clearly how what I do is working.. why its like and isolation.. and thus release that little anurism (I know that's spelled wrong).. and I cna thus sleep better at night..

see.. isolations on tangles work by keeping the tangle from ever doing its process of one tangling and the other untangling..

ok... you can see the / showing the right string is more predominent over the - that would be behind it.. this its to illustrate to right poi coming toward the screen and moving down... the + means to show that the left string attached to the left poi 'l' is behind the right string that comes across... so you can picture the left poi moving towards the background and coming up.. hopefully that helps make the diagram make sense..

now if we stop right here.. the poi make a cirlce that spins toward the screen and down to the background.. lets think of this like a flat plane that will be kept constant... to moves this 'plate' as it spins.. you have to push from the other side lets say straight to the right from the left side... (even though its more angle)..
[code:1]
left poi
|
force-> |
|
right poi
[/code:1]

the trick is as it moves the force point changes to keep the same vector relative to the poi circle... which then will be a spiral..

to apply this force to begin with requires like an isolation.. that way you keep the outer force applying axis as near as possible to perfect relation to the poi axis... hwoever instead of taking weight off the system.. you want near perfect.. the point you want is a little further twist ed up or twisted back.. that way you can actually move in a type of groove..

this goes back to the shoe string knot.. and imagining the moving as following the groove.. which means I should be able to 4 axis turn.. if I can get better technique.. I can conserve more energy... maybe get it back horizontal and I'm willing to even let it slip out as it comes back vert. :30 that would be close enough to perfection for me.. :11 I've got some other tangly stuff I might post.. just weird manipualtions.. nothing I thought was relaly special.. I get those up if you want mroe ideas..

I don't knwo why I didnt understand that before..
