Shellsol Fuel in UK

It seems to me that, by consensus, the best fuel for firespinning is Juggleart's Firewater. That is not available over here in the UK  so the next best thing seems to be Shellsol TK.
I have just spoken to a very helpful guy in the local shell depot (plymouth) about Shellsol (and explained the concept of fire spinning / poi etc.) the result of which being Shellsol TK is not available in europe at all, but the nearest availble substitute is Shellsol T.
Having looked at the data sheets it seems to be a reasonable substitute-
MSDS shows-
Slightly higher flashpoint - Less dangerous
No noticable difference in toxicity
Slightly less pure (98% paraffins instead of 99.8%)

See here for MSDS's (For Shellsol T see Shellsol T/TD)

Looks worth a try! Sphism/gigglesmiley :21

BUT! It only comes in 25l containers, £123.12 each!  :54

However, it comes to about £5 a litre which is not OTT as far as I'm concerned.
So... Would anyone in the devon area like to form a syndicate to buy a drum?

(I'll also be posting this on HOP)

What consensus would that be?!? I've never heard of the stuff, and I know a LOT of fire spinners... so it doesn't seem like much of a consensus. Many spinners I know in the US use White Gas/Coleman Fuel, which is between and a gallon, depending on where you get it. At current exchange rates, that would be about a pound and a half to four pounds a gallon... much cheaper than what you're using. But then Coleman fuel in the UK is really expensive.

Loads of stuff on HOP about it:

cheaper than firewater you can get a product called shellsolT
can buy it from major shell distribution points. bout for 20 liters. burns bright, clean. no smell, no soot. much better than kerro, parrafin etc. wish i could find something like that here, (in Barcelona at the mo)
if you cant find a shell distributor nearby ...

J4PlayI think that this product ...(Shellsol T)... is pretty much as odourless as they come. Provides a bright flame and very little smoke as well. I have also found it good for Fire Breathing as it has very little taste and a high flash point. If you can get hold of some (try your local petrochem distributor), I'm sure you will not be dissapointed.

or here, here, etc...

Maby you know it as something else?:

Ok then ... the following is a list of equivalent chemical solvents, manufactured by different companies:
shellsol T - Shell Chemicals
K Sol - Shell Generic
Pegasol 3440 - Mobil
Isopar G - Exxon
Solvent 11 - BP

If not Maby you should try some? Sphism/smilesmiley
I didn't say it was the cheapest, but it's reccomended by lots of poiple who seem to have tried lots of things.

I have searched for some of the equivalents but Shellsol is the only one I can find near here.

Also, it seems I was wrong. Shellsol T was what people used to use in Australasia but then it was no longer available so they started using Shellsol TK. Sphism/confusedsmiley ... ... Sphism/gigglesmiley
