Hey every one just got into florence and its beautiful and steaming. just shaw a statue of a chap called david. big guy. havent done any spinning yet but will do so soon.

So why are the statues naked?

Not all the statues are... Some of them were clothed. And some of the ones that weren't were modified during more modest (Victorian?) times with conveniently placed fig leaves.
As for why the ones that were nude were done that way... well, they're studies of the human form, so why wouldn't they be?
