poi -n- planes
like airplanes... being that I'm going to be flying on and near 9-11, and due to the "strictness" in regulations... I was wondering if anyone knew how to pack poi for the plane... because I'm not going to have anything but carry-ons (can't afford losing luggage), and i don't want to be hassled over a 'weapon'... I'm only taking sock poi, but figure that might cause additional problems since inside my poi are hacky sacks... and the last thing I need is to be hassled because they think I'm smuggling drugs..
so far the best two options that I've come up with are:
1) keep them in my pockets... (since they won't set off a metal detector)
and
2) maybe untie them (or not since I can untie them if they find them.. ) but I'm thinking if they aren't tied before hand maybe they won't view it as weaponry...
I also thought about going by airport security early before my flight so I can let them "inspect" things to avoid last minute issues, or suspicion of drugs but I also don't want to be told that I can't take them at all..
I'll be going through new orleans, cleveland (or cincinati or something), baltimore and memphis.. (if you count all the stops there and back.. )

I'm actually considering never going to america again, get this. The american government want me to turn up 5 hours before my flight, give over a shit load of personal information, which then gets emailed across the ocean for interogation, then i may or may not be allowed to board the plane. Hmmm I wonder what happens to all that valuable data, sold tothe highest bidder perhaps.
Maybe they should have done that to the Bin Laden family when they flew them out of the US after 9-11.
All this talk of planes, I gotta hijack the thread..............
SO has anyone seen Battle Royale 2? I just saw it the other day. It is awsome. Not for the faint hearted, it's grusome a very bloody. But it has a huge anti-American sentiment (anti-western imperialism).
Is it even out in the states? I'd be amazed if it is.

So rev, i think as long as you can prove that you can spin poi with them it should be fine, just take a spare set of socks just in case.

I flew within the US over this summer with poi - two fire pairs, two tennis ball pairs, and four newspapery practice sets. Didn't have any trouble, though I checked mine.
I would say put them in your carry-ons as if they were anything else. If you're really curious, call up the airport.
If it's Cinci that you're flying to in Ohio and you have some extra time in your schedule, I might have to drive out for a burn with ya.

I looked it up.. is new orleans to cleveland, 45minute layover then to baltimore... then on the way home its to memphis then to new orleans...
I've been more warry about losing the hackey sacks... if i put them in the bag they may ask at when it goes through the x-ray.. so i was going to pocket it..
and the general consensus has been DONT TELL SECURITY..
we'll see how it goes..
