I Quit Smoking

OK - so maybe you never knew that I did smoke cigarettes. There's no point in telling me how awful it is. I know that already. That's why I've quit. The reason I'm telling you all is because I consider you my friends. And one of the most important things I can do to help myself is announce to everyone that I'm doing it. But also, in case there's anyone out there who's thinking of giving up cigarettes, or knows someone who wants to, I found a great website and I wanted to share it with you.

www.whyquit.com

It has a lot of links to articles and a lot of advice. Granted, some of it is pretty preachy (they do not believe in the use of the nicotine patch or nictoine replacement gums) but it really struck a cord with me.

thanks for listening. And please accept my apologies if I've seemed a little grumpy lately. I've been "cutting down" for a while - and feeling really stressed about it, honestly. But today is my cold turkey day - and I'm actually doing OK so far .... hopefully I was just anxious. But if I snap at anyone for the next three days, try not to take it personally. I should be over the worst of the withdrawal by the end of the week.

Cool Nice one keep it up! Sphism/gigglesmiley

I've been a non smoker for around 2 months and doing really well.

I even gave up "smoking" but am cooking some brownies at the moment!

The worst is over in a week! I got really angry but it went pretty quickly and then started to feel alot better.

I read that Alan carr book. Bloody awfuly written but it get the message accross well. I'm never gonna take up smoking again cause I'll have to read that book again! Sphism/gigglesmiley

But I'd recomend it to anyone. It really works well and after 12 years of smoking I actually really don't wanna start again!

Keep it up and soon you'll be able to wake in the morning and not cough, not smell and have loasds more energy.

I have smoked for about 15 years now and absolutely hate it. I have tried to quit many times. The worst thing is that I was recently in the hospital for 4 days with no smoking at all. I said while I was in there that this is it. The first thing I did when I got out was smoke and now I am back where I started. I think I will check out above web site and hope it helps. I want to be smoke free by the end of the year.

i believe it was mr chutney who asked, but i have to be honest, i've failed and restarted in my quest. I'm afraid that I may be in a perpetual state of quitting smoking for the rest of my life ... but for the last few days I've been smoke free. I've also had to give up smoking other herbs, as I've got a new job starting in a few weeks ... so I actually think that has helped me detox over all, and cut back on my desire to smoke .... wish me luck AGAIN!

you can do it Miss Sauce Sphism/smilesmiley

Chut

Good luck! :7
And those 'other herbs' can go very well on pizzas, in cakes, mixed with pasta etc... Sphism/winksmiley

careful how you go too.

when i gave up my nicotine addiction i found myself developing a herbal addiction to replace it...

dont give up and good look Sphism/smilesmiley

thanks all ... you are all so sweet ... things are going well here -- although goshdarnit, i believe I've put on a few pounds. For all the things that are bad about cigarettes, they certainly are a diet aid....

alas, I think that a few extra pounds is better for my health than tar and nicotine and all that junk.

Yea they say that smokin kills all your cash, but the money i spend on fags is less than what im cutting out on food.. so im not really complaining lol =P
