Video Idea

Some of you might have seen this done before, but whattabout have people post different raw footage, then it's up to each person who wants to submit a final video as to how they use the footage. Last time I saw this done was a yo-yo vid, there were like 5 different editors(with 5 or 6 different people submitting footage), it was cool to see how each person pieced together the footage, and what music they used. Anyone interested? It's getting boring round winter time Sphism/smilesmiley I know most ppl on here have a dv cam, I can provide storage for raw footage online :56

No real rules that I remember for editing the video, other than say using at least a few seconds from each person submitted, and to have credits for each performer. Perhaps some sort of time limit for the video, like 6 or 7 minutes Sphism/confusedsmiley

interesting idea-

I've got several vids or me spinning fire and have been wanting to edit something out of them for a while, though as luck would have it I've learned loads more since Brighton and now don't like much of it Sphism/gigglesmiley

Not sure I'd have the time to edit much together, but there is footage if anyone wants it (no guarantees of quality or variation though Sphism/winksmiley)

Chut

niiiice, i like the sound of that, bad.

should be cool

I've been thinking upon very similar lines.

If people upload vids to spherculism I thought we caould all vote for the ones we like best then the top ten could be edited together to make a super badass vid. I like the idea of diferent poiple editing stuff together.

I'm game,

¦m¦

sounds cool, im not sure if id be able to play cos my nets soooo slow, so downloading raw footage could be painful.

but its a wicked idea.

I could download and burn to cd or dvd and send it to poiple who are interested for say a Fiver,

m

Sphism/gigglesmiley then im laughing Sphism/smilesmiley

let's do it then eh..matt, pm on it's way Sphism/winksmiley

me and my stick...

are in...

if ya'll will have a happy irish staffer

hell yeah, considering I dont think I've even seen a vid of you yet Sphism/gigglesmiley

yeppers, count me in, tho i have no footage of my own, and shoddy editing software, i'd love to give it a bash!!!

Jim x

its mostly coz im not any good.

though i love it dearly and finally feel like im getting a feel for the flow.

hell its only been a year Sphism/smilesmiley

plans for vid in january

sorry for the delay, I won't have storage again until the first of the year. Until then, it sounds like we have about 7 video submitters and 2 editors. Hold on to those vids!

i can help edit (Adobe Premiere) - and definitely have some good footage lying around ... count me (and my posse) in.

same.

Have premiere, will edit.

give us a deadline for the video submittal
..
I still have some old footage lying on my HD
Sphism/gigglesmileySphism/tonguesmiley

I have good footage and I can edit

I love editing, and I need as many projects as possible to get better. im definatly game, although supplying footage of myself may be tricky, im thinking about ariving at me friends house who has lots of video cameras and produceing some quick videos of me spinning and get it burnt on a cd so I can bring it home.

ive been working on trying to create a song in froot loops for a "ultimate compilation" video, but that program is god damn confusing.

great!! How about a deadline of Friday, January 16th for the raw video submission. The space will definitely be there by then. After then what kind of deadline sounds reasonable, one month? The only worry I have is that the editors may not be able to download all of the footage in time.
Any more thoughts, ideas, welcome too eh.

Astar, what are you trying to figure out in fruit loops? I've been through that program backwards and forwards. I have gigs upon gigs of samples too if you need any.

eh, it has several tabs for diffrent "sheets" of music. how do I link one sheet to another? ill have to screw around with it some more to figure out the other stuff that I couldn't figure out (ofcourse I didn't even bother to read any documentation)

some other stuff comes from actually having to understand music theory/knitty gritty basics which I have no knowledge of. I want to make a mix of a song that's mostly acoustic, and mix in riff's that are a mix of acoustic and electronic samples, other riff's that's "rewritten" completly with acoustic samples, and other riff's that are "rewritten" with electronic samples.

With varrying tempos. Im not sure if ill ever get a satisfactory song plotted out for the video submission though.. so I might just go with a queen song or something.

Also, a suggestion for handling the video downloads is to make detailed text descriptions of every video clip that's submitted with as much detail as possible, so people who can't just download everything can read through it all and pick stuff that suites the kind of video they want to make.

hmm, typical fruit loops has several different kinds of views(some are more detailed than other, depending on your version). You have your sequencer, playlist, piano roll, and mixer. I'm not sure what you mean about sheets, but it sounds like the piano roll rollout, which is really just a more fine tuned version of your regular sequencer(allows you to drop a sample at any part of the beat, as well as layer them on the same track, as opposed to the regular sequencer which just allows you to drop it once per beat/per track). How I normally make songs in FL(hope this helps) is to setup loops/patterns on different channels(using the numeric keypad next to the bpm or tempo counter), then order and arrange the loops in the playlist editor. Then any post production stuff I want to do in fl I use the mixer for, there's a few good effects in there.

Good idea about the naming conventions as well!

aha playlist editor seems to be what I was looking for.

daunting little program, especially when you know jack shit about music.

I played a trombone in middle skool mebbe that helped??

willing to edit and contribute footage...

now send me some of your footage! (poiboi@spymac.com)

It's going to be another 2 weeks before I will have a home for all of the footage, sorry for the delay guys. However, if anyone has footage they want to submit now, just post the link on here(be it spymac, etc), I'm sure all of the editors would love to have some footage to play with.

cool as, time to get myself together and start recording then

Just read this and wish I had some footage to upload seeing as I now have a cam, can't wait to see the finished outcome(s)

why not shoot some now? I'll have a space in two weeks for you to put it online for the editors or you can use spymac until then?

can anyone upload to this server using the galleries, i can sort it out if not.

I think the file limit is only 10 Mb tho

m

I've not been able to upload anything since the site went down Sphism/sadsmiley
I've only tried twice though.

I tried submitting a wmv of Mr Spiral from Brighton with no luck :S

Chut

same here, I think there's a bug with the galleries, look into it please...
the file size limit is like 1MB too, so raise that while you're at it

And my house needs a tidy up when you've gat a sec... Sphism/winksmiley

woohoo! ok, I have the webhost, just need a day or two for the domain name to be setup. I'm going to be locking down the directory, just so that my bandwidth isn't used up unecessarily, etc etc. This will only be for uploading videos for this project(for submittals), and reading(for editors), and linking to any of the files will be prohibited, yadda yadda. I'll post the login info once it's all set.
