What vids are missing from spherculism?

Right then poiple.

I'll be making some new vids soonish and to get the ball rolling i'd like you all to have a think about what's missing from the video section in the gallery.

For starters there's things like corkscrew and windmill.

But then also you might wanna see a close up of my hands when i'm doing a 5bt weave for example. Or you may like to see a side view of something.

Also you might wanna see more staff vids, how about meteor and other toys like that?

Tai Chi? Qi Kung? Parkour? Acro balance? Yo-yo? anything else?

Also you might wanna make a set of tutorial vids yourself. Are you a badass devil sticker? Diablo Player?

Is there anything else you wanna see from spherculism? Remember, this is your site. The more you put iin, the more you'll get out. Now is a particularly good time to put the effort in.

Spherculism is just about a year old now but it still looks very much like 'matts poi site'. Time to step it up poiple.

hmmm ... i don't consider myself really great at anything....but the games I've been playing a LOT of lately are hoop and acrobalance ... we're still trying to figure out how to incorporate partner balancing acro into poi spinning ... although I think it's more conducive to staff and/or meteor (which my boy's been tooling around with.)

I'm not sure I'm up for creating any tutorials jsut yet, but I'll gladly post links to any videos we put together.

I'm stepping up ...

I was hoping to come here, get a big list of all the poi patterns you guys want to see and then go off to make the vids.

erm, guess i'll have to have a crack at it myself.

i'll have a trawl through the new to you forum to find the missing vids.

devilsticks? There's a section for it but no videos in it... I have devil sticks but they are the crystal stick flower kinds, so they are slower and stickier... i like them becasue i can control them better and take my time doing moves... there's also things that can be done with them that you can't do with normal devil sticks, and probably vise versa. if i still had my cam i'd totally make you some vids of what i know.

That would be wicked. The sections are up there because they are just as sphercular as poi. I'm not qualified to teach devilstick so i can't really make any vids. I've got a little bit of devilstick from bristol juggling convention last year. I'll try and dig it out.

And if you can get some of your stuff on camera i'd love to see it in the devilstick videos section.

hey achluo, good to see you around, it's been a while.

I still think you're being harsh about S2. I'd love it if you pm'ed me to tell me what you're thoughts are.

Really there's 2 options. Either spherculism stays like it is for ever and i scrape a living doing graphics or else I get paid maybe a quarter of minimum wage to improve things massively.

But i think you said you'd pay for a dvd right? So what is it about a plastic disc that makes it acceptable, but updating the server and making all the videos stream is unacceptable. I don't get it, i see why there will be an initial barrier toward paying for online video. But you will still get S1 for free exactly as it is, then all the videos will be updated and added to and they'll all be available for streaming. I don't see what the problem is since you will benefit for free because S2 exists, even tho you won't pay a penny.

I'd really like to know exactly what it is you're thinking. Especially since you are blaitantly on the free list since you've donated so much time into making this site so great.

Auchlo: It'd be good to have you on board- you've been here since the start and your input as a talented spinner and a nice guy would be a sore loss. Sphism/smilesmiley

General observation:

We can all get upset about paying x for y and relative values we all do and don't rate for things. Like I said elsewhere- the internet has spoiled people, and just as matt was saying elsewhere, just because the distribution or tangible product is different, the fact is the end product is one and the same (look at the PC game half-life 2 for example- many thousands of players happily downloaded the game in order to allow the money to go straight to the developers- none of them got a disc or a box, yet the product still had financial value and they were willing to pay it.)

This is a bold and pioneering project (both in terms of niche and in terms of delivery- the media viewer will be quite something from what I've read and seen). I'd like to see people try and be as positive as possible and stick to constructive criticism rather than outright complaints.

matt: I'm up for S2 Sphism/gigglesmiley However, I think some kind of clarification on the 'free list' thang might be handy. This along with the S1/S2 differentiation marked clearly in the S2 intro or as a separate post, I think a lot of the general concerns/ misgivings about the nature of the project would be answered.

Did an hours worth of filming last night. Got some really cool stuff on film.

Mainly freestyled with various limitations. eg only wibbles, only tangles, behind the back and so on.

Definitely lots of cool stuff to upload.

Anti-spin (principle and application) (BTW is there a general move to start adopting Nicks terminology of 'compond circles?- this isn't only antispin though- more realted to flower variations)

A sodding fountain (proper, notthe poi spinners interpretation with a windmill at the top)
