Just an idea that's probably occured to most poips, but it's fun to play with and I only really tried it last night. It is possible to create some interesting effects if you do a sequence and then a simultanious reversal of the paths of both poi, and do the sequence in reverse.
One nice example:
Reverse crossed inverted weave R-L; Down stall right poi over left arm to enter outwards butterfly; Immediately BF H'loop but halfway through momentarily catch both poi on your wrists and then throw them back to exit into inward butterfly; Down stall right poi over left arm to enter clockwise/forwards chase; Immediately enter forwards crossed inverted weave L-R ![]()
It seems to work best with short sequences (3/4 moves) shorter and the effect isn't as noticable, longer and the observer will have forgotten the original sequence.
It's also a good way of highlighting missing or sketchy areas of your spinning repertoire, I'm now expanding on alot of stuff that I can only do one way, and even just some of the transitions feel really bizzare reversed.
Food for thought ![]()
Stay stinky...

Here's one that's trickier than it sounds - start in a forwards isolated buzzsaw, then grab the poi heads with your hands (they should be next to the heads if your isolation is nice and smooth) stop, and start back up going in reverse. I also use quite a few isolated double wrist wraps to change the direction of both poi in mid-spin - looks very nice if you do it behind your head as part of a windmill.
But I love your crossed inversion direction change thingy - nifty idea and lots of things like it I can have a play with. Thanks!

I dont tend to do things like that... must try it!
