Spinning photographs
Hey I was wondering if anyone had any tips about how to take good pictures of spinning. What is the best amount of time to leave the shutter open, best lighting, or anything else? Thanks ![]()

Depends on what type of camera you are using and also what type of picture you want.
Usually, i prefer like 1/2 - 1 sec shutter. The longer it stays open the more fire there is, but the longer you leave it open the less chance there is that you can see the performer.
A digi cam with a night setting are the best i have seen, specially for price and quality pics.
If you are using film id recomend alot of background light, and a flash, and about 1/2 a sec... or less if you want to see the person...other wise 1sec + if you just want cool fire effects.
I have some cool ones but they take so much mem (800kb) that i cant host them
Id also have to say that there is something special about film, especially if done by a profesional.

The web page of Nick: www.thevenue.org has got some useful information and beautiful pictures.
Just play around with different settings and find out what you like best. And for high quality pictures dont use a digital camera!
Have fun

i dont necessarily agree with the advice about not using a digital camera. i have some good quality night photos using one made by cannon (not sure about the make, but will try and find out). andy is right about digital if you know loads about photography and want top top quality, but if you dont (like me), digi will save you untold money on developing film that isnt what you want. you can play with the settings till you find the right one, and see the difference in the photos immediately. peace

sorry, probably formulated it wrong.
Digital Cameras come in very handy and you are going to take many pictures until you have the right Shutterspeed, Shuttertime and Poi-Move combination. So Digital is the best and cheapest way to experiment with that.
What I wanted to say is that if you want to have Highest Quality (Best Fire traces,Upsize to a Poster etc.) you should go for the old style . . .
