abbreviation list
I thought as obvious as some of these are, we could still use a list. We are pretty good about the terms, but if you don't recognize the shorthand, then you can't search a term right?
I'm sure there are more abbreviations than this, but my mind is drawing a blank at the moment..
as, AS, nips- antispin (rarely used)
B, bf- butterfly
bt - beat
btb- behind the back (general) ex. btb weave, btb bf
bth- behind the head (specific) ex. bth weave uses side planes,
uncommon use: wall planed
btl- between the legs (specifc) typically both legs down
CCW- counter-clockwise
CW- Clockwise
for, fwd- forward

CW/CCW> I'm more into the terminology inward/outward, forward/reverse as defined in the poidia or Michal Kahn poispinning's book
isn't "fwd" more common than "for"
I prefer "PiP" than "pitp" .. sounds better

I use:
B for butterfly
W for weave
Then you get:
2B for a same time ttn
3B for a split time ttn
4B for a double ttn
and so on
2W for a 2Beat Weave
3W for a 3Beat Weave
I'd really love to see a standardised method for abreviating the pidia terms. It'll speed things up a lot. Also we caould set up the emoticons so you type something like -3W- and it gets replaced by the '3 beat weave' icon or animation...would be great teaching intresting combos and i think it would make posts quicker to read.
I really like the idea of using this idea that istead of counting beats we consider the 'degree of twist' for the move (for lack of a better word). So then a
1 and 2 beat weave would be 0 degree
3 and 4 beat would be 1st degree
5 and 6 beat would 2nd degree
I think that's right.
Then it can easily be transfered to inversions and tangles. I prefer this because it frees you up far more for freestyle, dropping in buzzsaw beats and throws and so on whilst the 'degree' of the pattern remains the same. Plus as you progress the level of degree that you can dance with increases.

1- cw and ccw come up a lot.. and inward and outward lose meaning after a while.. some people use it with respect to hands.. some with respect to planes.. but this is not the place to argue that.. the point is that this a list of abbreviations period.. questions come up all the time over what abbreviations mean.. and though standardizing them from here out would be nice, is it not in the best interest of the big picture to be able to decryptify most any post? Which is why I was giving a broader scoped list.
