Matt's made a nice little flash site

Over the past couple weeks i've been making a new promotional flash site for wildcat (the body jewellery company i work for).

It's been a bit of a pain in the arse because it runs super smooth on my work pc but gets really jerky on lesser spec machines.

It would be really handy for me if you lot could take a look at it and report back if it doesn't run smoothly.

If it doesn't run smoothly it would be useful to know your processor speed and the ammount of RAM you have (but don't worry if you don't know)

Also any comments on usability, interface, graphics etc would be good to know as well.

thanks

nice, i like the navigation thing. very original. the ways the pics load is cool and i like the loading page.

im using my mums brand spanking new computer, so probably would be an idea to get someone else 2 test it

That looks and works perfectly for me matt (I'm using an athlon XP 3200 with a gb of RAM though so I should hope so Sphism/smilesmiley)

Am I right in thinking that you only view the items in each catory (ie you can't get any further info?

Love the curly whiskers as well Sphism/gigglesmiley

Should have said...

It's gonna link through to the webshop.

And there is an A6 printed version to match that's going out to every customer with a link on the front to the site. Something we've been wanting to do for years but hard to get it all together at the same time. A6 booklet comes back from printer tomorrow, hence the urgency.

Cheers for the feedback,

m

PS

i seem to have buggered up that link, i'm off home, will put it back tomorrow,

m

FIXED IT, enjoy

m

Damn! Thats beautiful man. Really nice looking, works a treat for me in IE.
Firefox does'nt like it as much though

Cheers mate Sphism/smilesmiley

That's odd about firefox, i make all my stuff for firefox cos it works way better than IE.

Can you test it again for me cos that might be a problem, i've been updating the site all day so that may have caused it, or if you had 2 windows open it will have slowed down ???

I dunno other than that.

To quote Peter Griffin "FUCKIN' SWEET"

Still wont work if ff for me. Probably something this end though. Still looks sweet in ie.

mot:

I buggered up that link last night, i bet it's caching last nights version.

You could go to firefox >> tools >> options >> privacy >> clear cache (but then your whole cache will be deleted. Or you could find the file called white_016.swf in the cache but i think ff encrypts the names.

 Or I could just upload it to a different location and give you a new link

2 secs...

there you go, and if that don't work i have no idea.

Take it easy,

m

it works swimmingly in my firefox.

yup runs mighty fine now Sphism/gigglesmiley

yay...

i think... it may actually be finished Sphism/gigglesmiley

Worked fine on my machine, but it's a pretty perky one 2+ GHz... The navigation wasn't totally obvious though.

hey i like it very much, :7
i tried it in school, so i can`t tell you which system i used, and my internet at home is broken

Well it works now and is very pretty. The menu items at the top are the screen are annoying though, they keep moving out of the way while I'm trying to pick something so I keep ending up somewhere else than what I wanted to.

i was thinking that as well. it just takes a few minutes to get the hang of it. once you know which way the menus sway you can get ahead of them.

But in those few minutes I'd gotten annoyed and gone somewhere else Sphism/winksmiley

patience is a virtue many lack......

And most of those are online... Sphism/winksmiley

good point

Spiralx you old fuddy duddy, those menus take no time to master, the button you are heading towards comes to you, easy as pie.

sheesh

Sphism/gigglesmiley

Really nice! You have to be patient with the menu though; can't just scroll across it instantaneously like most of the impetuous youth of today or you overshoot.

i know they are tricky to get used to.

I've been making and using things like this is flash for years. It is a great technique to use for scrolling through lists of words, and you only move your hand half way to the button you need because it comes to you. I wish the whole of windows was like this

Looks great and works fine, Matt! Sphism/gigglesmiley

Although I'm on a 2 GHZ machine, so I can't say how it'll work on older systems.
