Sphercular Vision DVD
Here's the updated contents of the dvd
This is the contents for the first half of the dvd.
It's about 40 minutes long and very tightly edited to music.
The emphasis is on showing the best possible footage clearly without too many effects.
(This is pretty much just lifted from the old post so skip passed if you've read it)
Here's the official preview for the dvd: Including the name of the dvd and the all new spherculism logo, which have remained entirely secret until now

One of those should do ya
1) "Turn Yourself Around" >> Me on poi and 2diabolo, Oli (from brighton) on 2staff, Raf on 2diabolo in preston park in brighton. This is the first one i did and it's a bit sloppy but works well. It's really tightly edited to the music.
2) "Rays From the Sun" - Golden Valley >> This is all the day time footage from bristol JC. Lots of happy smiley people mucking about in the sun. Really fun. Introduced some nice little effects into the editing. This is the one that some of you have seen Wink Great footage of ros spinning clubs.
3) "The Essence" >> Me on poi, Jon on poi, Chris on poi and staff in preston park again, in the corner near Balfour road Smile This one has turned out soooo well, i really love it. It was hard to edit cos the track flows along without big 'events'. So for a while the editing was a bit wet. But it's turned out great. Lots of real tricky poi moves in their, some cool slow motion parts when the track slows down. this is the most badass poi video i have ever seen. Loads of wibbling, loads of tangles, lots of slo mo so you can see what's going on. Very cool video, has a great vibe about it. Very excited about this one.
4) Finished the uberPoi fire footage i have, the tracks called "Taking my time". With Rob Bluecat, Ronin, a little bit of eimhin, olive, molly and nyc
The sime effects on the fire look excellent, turned out really nice this one.
5) "You never mentioned that you hate it, or even that you are castrated......" A track i don't know the name of by a band called "The Scrub" in bristol>> Bristol juggling convention fire night. Loads of crazy spinners, staff, poi, devil sticks, all sorts of crazy antics. This one is cut really tight to the track and i'm very happy with it. It looks totally sick and is full of footage from the fire show, meg, laura, kev, ds adam, olive, phirenix, viv, oli, a litle bit of garth and so on. Awesome video.
6) Working on a fire piece from brighton with loads of mates from the level. Trying to use footage of Duff drumming but have to edit the music before i can edit the video. I suck at audio editing and am finding this one increadibly hard. Not sure how it will turn out. Got some cool footage to go in there tho, including great fire devil sticks from craig...
7) I have a track created by the awesome and increadible Kyle and Elliott from brisbane. It's 9 minutes long and the footage from uberOz is sick so this video is gonna be great. Will be making it very soon.
8.) A super psycadelic track about eating mushrooms "I sit upon a hill top, turn my face to the sky, the stars drip honey in my eye....." I call it "The Big Trip" >>I went to town on this one. You'll love it. Loads of psycadelic colours, all the trippiest poi and staff moves by Me, poi-Oli and Olive. This is currently the crown jewel of the dvd, it's really polished and excellent quality. With images fading in and moving about gently around. Great colours, i love this piece!!
9) A special video of everyones f***ups called Falafel. This track is excellent, it's a piss take of the ego side of the hiphop scene. The style of this piece is badass, nice and rough. I was particularly cruel when clipping the mistakes. I cut from just before the mistake to the frame before they get out of it. It's hilarious to watch, i really love this video. Just gotta tweak a few vids and it's done
******* Then section 2 is similar but a bit different ************
The focus here is more of a VJ feel (like DJ but with video)
Lots of effects.
Lots of eye candy.
Still you can see lots of what's going on.
I tended to keep longer clips of people so it's more freestyley
similar but different
Another 40 Mins
All music by bad:science
10) "Gotta live positive" ~ This is the full track from the trailer. I've edited a whole new piece to it. It's all of me spinning fire slitting into 2 of me and joining back together again.
11) "The Rhythm Rolls" ~ this is almost finished and is the footage that Mr Chutney and Poikid sent me. Looks really nice. Quite simple. Thinki'm going to put some footage MCP sent me in here too.
12) "I wanna Hear Consciousness Raise a Hand Up" ~ This one is completely bonkers. It's filmed pointing the camera up and i'm spinning poi. Loads of box planes and inversions, oddles of effects. I walk round the camera so looks like i'm spinning upside down and all sorts. Very cool vj video.
13) "Mr Politician" ~ Not a great deal of spinning in this video. Awesome grafitti from brighton tho. It's a mile long wall painted by some of the best graf artists in europe. Plus some funny images of tony blair. Might spice this one up ven more but it's looking very cool.
14) "Sweet Sativa" ~ This footage was all inside the main tent at bristol JC. Lots of crazy druken late nite shenanegans. Crazy colours. Pretty funny.
15) "Close your eyes" ~ A very sexual song. I filmed my glow diabolos and poi and layered it all up. This is a mental eye popping experience. Don't plan on learning any moves from this one, just sit back and enjoy.
16) "Take Me Down To the River" ~ This is me and Raf playing diabolo mainly. Filmed under the railway viaduct in brighton with a wide angle lens. Overlayed with some of the grafitti and contact juggling. Very happy with how this one turned out.
17) "Hide Tide" ~ This is the video i had of Eimhin from Ireland at uberpoi playing 1 diabolo. The footage is sooooooo nice. Blows my mind, truely inspirational. Added a little effect to this one like star trek "beam me up". Quite funny. Lovely film.
18.) "The Blink Of An Eye" ~ This is a really epic tune. The footage for this one is Drew (Glass) playing with many CJ balls at bristol JC with big blue sky backdrop. This video was the last one i did and it's an honour to be able to use the footage. Thanks drew. Mind blowingly talented man.
19) "It won't be long now..." ~ My favourite track with a lot of meaning to me. I made a very simple final piece of me spinning poi and diabolo on a beautiful beach in new zealand. It was a dream that i'd had for a long time and i did it. No techy stuff just me having a spin.
So there it is, just a few to finish off but it's almost entirely done. ![]()
Thanks for everyones love and support
matt
****** Here's the original first post *********
Interesting to see how the project has evolved over time...
Since the spherculism site is now over a year old i figure it's about time to document our progress in our first annual dvd.
I now have enough people interested in this project to finnally make it happen.
I know i've talked to musashii before about similar videos to this.
The format will go something like this...
Any sphercular member who wishes to do so can become a part of this project. No matter whether you are a total beginner or slightly more advanced.
The performers will all need to aquire video equipment and think hard about their piece. But they'll be loads of help and advice along the way.
Performances can be solo or in groups and we welcome as many toys as you can play with ![]()
Raw footage will be separated into 2 types:
1) Footage or you practicing what you've been learning since becoming spherculish and stuff you're trying to nail at the moment. There will be guidelines on how to maximise the visibility of your poi and body to show everyone precisely what you can do. This is your chance to share what you know with the whole community.
2) Your Piece should be set in an interesting environment, perhaps in the woods or a city center, with a beautiful sunset or maybe some badass graffiti. Your piece should have some sense of story, a begining, middle and end and should be an equal display of your technical ability and artistic prowess.
It will preferably be performered in time with that music, i.e listen to the track while your perform then send me a copy of the tunes to dub over the top.
If you wish you can edit your piece together, or if you prefer you can send in your footage for editors to work with.
Any experienced members can help out with the editing, we'll discuss this more nearer the time. Then i have some professional video production friends lined up who will be taking it to the next level.
Polishing off the graphic style will be me and Joe ~ a truly superb illustrator who will make this dvd the most badass you've ever seen.
Then of course i have a few cheeky little tricks up my sleeve, but you'll just have to wait for those.
The finished product will be delivered as a dvd and will be an example of the entire cross section of skills and styles in our little community.
After 6 months the profits will be shared out amongst everyone who is involved in the project.
So not only do you get to be in a beautifully crafted videowhich you can add to your portfolio but you also have the chance to earn a little money for your efforts.
This is all still open to debate and there ae many more details to come. Im just interested in getting an idea of how many poiple are willing to put their energy in to this project.

I'd like to participate... and I can edit... do participants get free copies of the DVD?
The Sphercular Community DVD
I'm in
sorry, gotta go work out smthg ... => www.spherculism.com then click "here to spin"
The Sphercular Community DVD
someone else quizzed me about that before,
look it says clear as anything that that link is 'Here to Spin'
The Sphercular Community DVD
yea i dont get that bit =s
The Sphercular Community DVD
what about everybodies favourate issue of: music copyright?
The Sphercular Community DVD
count me in. unfortunately, though, i don't know what to say about music copyright ....
The Sphercular Community DVD
Music is a bitch. I'm working on it, contacting anyone i know who produces music. Drummers, didgers, guitarists, dj's and so on. I suggest we all do the same.
Music will be our first major mission.
I've been getting great feedback about our video project. I've already got confirmation of videos for poi, staff, diablo, juggling and meteor. I wonder if oli's mate russell wants to send us a devilstick vid, he's pretty badass.
These are all sphercular forms in my book and should be in the dvd.
Does anyone do any breakdancing, liquid or capoeira. I'd love some footage like that to play with.
m
no way, this is my 1000 post

The Sphercular Community DVD
Music is something that needs addressing asap. IMO you can't make a poi video with overdubbed music if the person wasn't spinning to that track when they filmed it. It makes life so hard when you come to edit it and for me it's all about the 'visual interpretation of sound'. Graphics i'm good at, music i'm not. I've got a few leads, i know a lot of people who produce high quality / professional music but it's the biggest stumbling block at the moment.
I edited that 'moments of truth' video to the music, painstakingly adjusted the speeds to (approx) beat match the music. And chose the clips depending on how i would have danced to the music. But if i had been listening to that same tune i could have just dropped in the clip and lined it up.
So it would be good to get all the music sorted first, along with release forms from the copyright owners. Then i can hand out the music to anyone who's going to make a film.
Any thoughts?
The Sphercular Community DVD
Sounds great- hopefully my cam or someone elses can be enlisted and I can get my face in it (and forget the awful footage of me from Brighton
)
Music- Well, for an interesting change, there are pieces of classical and choral m,usic which are out of copyright, ie free for all to use
I'll look into it
Chutney
The Sphercular Community DVD
I would LOVE to use some classical music in the dvd.
Perhaps you could make some suggestions mr C.
Be great to ofset that with some psytrance, live percussion and phat break beats too.
m
The Sphercular Community DVD
Clare that is excellent news, i'll find some choice cuts to add into the mix
The Sphercular Community DVD
Two spinner pals and I, (ones my g/f), are going out into the welsh rivers and mountains, to film different freestyle bits n bobs, granted were not as good as some on here,, but we all are devoted to poi.
We should have some daytime sock/mouse/flag stuff,, and some night, fire and glo-stuff too,,, just wondering how much footage to try to shoot?..
Im buying a pack of Mini-Dv tapes tomorrow, then the fun starts, would a full hour of footage from 3 diff poiple do? ..
or is it too late as i feared...
Gizmo-out
The Sphercular Community DVD
Yep gizmo, a full hour will be fine.
Easiest way is to just send me the tape with a self addressed envelope, that way i can capture it all properly.
But you're gonna have to be extremely quick about sending it to me, and i'm not sure how much will get on the dvd, but i'll be able to get you in there somewhere for sure.
Looking forward to it,
matt
ps POIKID, have you sent me that footage yet??? I move out of this flat pretty soon and am getting a little concerned, cos i really wanna get you in the dvd
The Sphercular Community DVD
Update:
Started filming today,, mostly setting the cam up, for distance/trails ,,but i think we should have a full mini dv tape of poi-age in tops a week from now,,
matt do you know roughly how much space in gb or mb on these mini dv`s? ...i was thinkin i could send to you online? quiker than our lousey mail service,, lol
The Sphercular Community DVD
1 tape is about 10Gb when you capture it at high enough resolution for the dvd. So you'll need to send the tape.
I can send the tape back once it's captured
Looking forward to seeing it, got any ideas about where or what you're gonna film?
m
The Sphercular Community DVD
I want to go to a river near me called `river afan` take some shots with us out in the middle of the river standing on big rocks,,nice scenary etc,,
I also want to go to a forest and ontop of a biiig mountain i live by,,should be good,,,maybe not all of that footage exactly,
also theres a lovley beach 2mins walk away from me now so i think alot of the fire stuff is gonna be down there,, cuz im not gonna stand in the middle of the river at night!!!! lol
im in the middle of capturing some footage i shot today in my flat, juz sock stuff really,, but it all ads up lol..

The Sphercular Community DVD
Just to keep you up to date:
Captured about 10 hours of footage
Built Linux machine
Turned about 5 hours footage down to about 3.5 hours of good clips
Learnt how to use most of the software needed
Have got some really wicked footage.
Got hold of a load of great music.
Thinking i'll make 30 - 40 mins of the most excellent clips, then sequence it all to music.
Then have a section with a lod more footage in it but possibly not to music, not sure yet.
Are there any 'special features' you'd like to see?
Was thinking i could use the subtitles feature to provide move names for the video.
Gotta run,
laters,
m
The Sphercular Community DVD
move names! That would kick ass.
Directors commentry?
what linux software are you using? I must know!
if you could make a couple of bits like moments of truth, and stick them on as extras? Or is it all going to be like that? (or will that take tooo much time...)
Or just funny outtakes that appear on the videos? (With funny outtakers consent...)
interview with you about spherculism?
The Sphercular Community DVD
There'll be lots of moves i don't know the name for, perhaps i could number moves i don't know and we could just fill in a reference list online for people to refer to. Then when i next burn a load i could update everything from the list.
There has been talk of doing a group commentry, if we do this it needn't be on the dvd, we could do it once everyone has seen it and have a download for the comentry.
Linux, it's been tricky for various reasons. Dodgy cd burners, wanted to use 64bit debian, tried out kine:bolic which is very cool, the live cd works a treat, got lots of crazy software and the best tron game ever. Settled on Mepis 32bit. Very much link windows, but works. comes with all the basic software you need. Have been using Kino video editor to cut up the clips. It rocks!! I love it. Having trouble getting it all on line tho, it would be dead simple but it needs drivers for the wifi. But once it's online you can go to Debian and get any software you need, Mepis had this cool little package manager that installs everything and checks for dependancies. All for free
Anyhoo, finally got Lives running and just figuring out how to use it, turns out we can't edit to music on Kino yet. But we've got the music sorted in Lives and are just sorting out how to fade.
Looks like it's gonna work a treat. Definitely got some great source material for the dvd.
Everything done to music will be kinda like the Moments of Truth video. Should be able to Make 30-40 minutes like that, if not more. How do people feel about having a section of video without music? I figured you can just stick your own tunes over the top anyway. That way I could squeeze loads of the source videos on there too.
Think i'll do something with outtakes at the end, perhaps for the credits.
Have thought about doing some kind of interview but i wouldn't know what questions to answer, and it's a little embarresing.
m
The Sphercular Community DVD
well about half an hour after that last post it all went tits up.
We managed to export a load of clips from kino, but it didn't work properly. In a cruel twist of fate dave managed to delete all my working files, not the source capture videos but all the cuts information.
So essentially my last weeks work
We were just ready to move into the next stage, the fun bit of taking all the clips and mixing them to music. But it looks like i've got another few days cutting up again.
I can't face it, it's my last week in brighton, im sposed to be moving out of my flat. I've just completely wasted my week. And i've got a million and one other things to be doing.
It probably won't take too long to cut the avi's up again. But i was being so anal about it. Making sure each cut was perfect. Now all that's gone i can't face doing it so well again.
I feel pretty shitty today
The Sphercular Community DVD
I know a couple of people that make phat breakbeat
Was listening to one's breakbeat version of Lenny Kravitz's "Are you going my way?" last night, excellent track
The Sphercular Community DVD
Well, i've just spent a couple hours contemplating what can be done. Toyed with the idea of using windows....
Am just gonna continue using Mepis, kino and lives, redo the cuts (but not so small this time)...
Hopefully it's the right thing to do,
Everything happens for a reason i guess,
Wish me luck,
m
The Sphercular Community DVD
Dude, that sucks
Nothing more frustrating that doing stuff which takes time and effort, only to discover it was futile- I spent 3 days writing an essay in the last possible week of submission for my degree and found out after it was finished that it wasn't submittable. Believe, i know how it feels
Still, I hope that the project is still inspiring you: Don't rush to complete it dude- get it done to the best it can be, then we can really show off what |S| has facilitated.
Anything I can do to help, pm me
Chutney
The Sphercular Community DVD
Cheers chutney.
Well i don't know when the dvd will be out, i'm 3 weeks through what i allowed 4 weeks to complete. Twice i've been set back by 1 week, the chances of me finishing in 1 week are negilgible.
However, i'll move my studio back to my parents house and work there for a few weeks before heading to NZ.
Might even take all my computer equip to NZ and finish the dvd there instead.
I've probably missed the commercial christmas deadline, really i'd have ot be sending off the final product for burning this week or next.
But i can probably get some copies out in time for christmas.
Bet carry on,
m
The Sphercular Community DVD
Well it's been a bit of a rollercoaster getting this dvd together but it's slowly getting there. Backed up all footage onto dvd. Next i'm gonna make lots of clips and deinterlace them nicely. Then i need to decide what software i'm gonna use to edit it all together.
Think we've completely ditched using linux, but we may do the final edit using Lives on Mepis.
We'e tried so much software out, for windows and linux. Found lots of cool stuff like
On windows:
WinDV, Very good capturing software
VirtualDub, All round excellent tool for making videos
Wax, Like after effects but freeware, very powerful, not very stable, exporter didn't work properly. Watch this one tho cos it's gonna be amazing in a year or so.
Linux:
Mepis OS live cd is fantastic
Dyne:bolic OS live cd has lots of very bonkers software on it, give it a year and it's gonna be awsome
Kino is great for slicing up clips, doesn't deinterlace well, you can edit in it but not to music. Very Nice tho.
Lives is a 1 track video editor. It's good, bit odd to use and not hugely stable. But very powerful.
But i've learnt loads about video editing, learnt lots of new software and have a pretty good idea about how to make the dvd.
Turns out Dave, the guy helping me out, used to do it professionally. He's taught me lots about how to make it all very professional. So i'm confident the finished dvd will be very nice.
m
The Sphercular Community DVD
you didn't try cinelerra on linux then? It's the most powerful video editor on linux I thought. Multi-track and effect and all that. It can even do farming out of the rendering to other machines.
Anyway good luck man. I know how much work small videos are so I don't envy you the task of a DVD!
The Sphercular Community DVD
didn't ever get cinelerra working, i pulled the plug on linux when we found wax for windows, but then that's no use so maybe it'll be cinelerra, not sure.
I'm really looking forward to yhe creative bit of making the video, but it's a lot of work just to get there.
Once i'm back in devon in a week i'll be able ot spend some quality time on it. Once i have the music sorted and i've made the clips th efun begins. Then it shouldn't take too long to make something that looks good.
m
The Sphercular Community DVD
I did once but couldn't be bothered with the hassle on this distro. That's why I found dyne-bolic, cos it had cinelerra on it, and it worked. I don't really have the option of windows here. I usually just go into uni and borrow their high powered computers... Hmmmmmmmmm.
The Sphercular Community DVD
dude is it still possible to send in my vid??
The Sphercular Community DVD
Yeep... that sucks Matt... but i'm glad things seem to be back on track...
Keep going with it, it's going to be stunning and we're all looking forward to it
The Sphercular Community DVD
gonna work on it in nz.
Got enough money behind me to spend a month on it i think, then hopefully have a grand to burn disks etc.
Would really love to get some out before xmas so i have some money again. Won't be able to get them out to distributors by then but should be able to get some out to the sphercular massive. Even if i have to burn you all copies by hand and stick labels on myself. Setting up the webshop at the moment so i have a means of taking orders.
THe soundtrack is gonna rock, played some tunes to duballstar the other day and they get 2 thumbs up. Will hopefully be selling the cd's from the site too, which is super cool, and a great way to support the people who are helping us out. You're gonna love the lyrics on the 'Bad:Science' tracks
I really want to bosh out the dvd and not get too anal about it all, i'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to things like this. But now i'm thinking i can take my time a little and get it just right.
m
The Sphercular Community DVD
I may try to spin to some classical then- I think a lot of my stuff looks better done slowly anyway, and the odd crescendo will allow some more up beat tomfoolery
[EDIT: Ahem... um, there is much classical sheet music no longer under copyright, but recordings are (I'm not well and not thinking straight... forgive me) I'll still look into it
]
I'll speak to my producer friend who may allow some of his stuff to be used in return for a mention or credit on the DVD.
I'm guessing its anything goes but do you want fire or sock? I guess both but socks often tend to be less exciting on cam (socks for a pro though eh
)
w00t! All sounds good- just need access to a cam
Chutney
The Sphercular Community DVD
having seen some work in progress i do beleive that this is gonna be awesome... you can put me down for an x-mas advance if there's gonna be some going! and as much bad:science as you can peddle cos that s&*t is dope...
The Sphercular Community DVD
The Sphercular Community DVD
take your time man! Then we can buy it in the post-christmas sales!
The Sphercular Community DVD
Thought we should start drumming up a little interest in the dvd since it is well over half way finished. Here's the low down so far...
[EDIT ~ i've just updated this in the first post on this thread, check it out]
Got a few ideas for bonus footage. Still not sure what to do with the stuff Mr Chutney, MCP and Poikid ave given me. Might just have some extra freestyle vids at the end.
SO how does that sound poiple? lots of great spinners involved, any thoughts to inspire me. Any help you can offer in getting it out to people? I looking for people to help distribute it etc.
Gotta go, in web cafe, laters,
m
The Sphercular Community DVD
:30 :22 sounds sicker than i'd even imagined...
as if i wasn't salivating for this enough already! just wish i'd put on a better performance in preston park if i'd really though any of it was going to be put in a dvd... i know jon was on form that day though!
i'm still trying to work out how to turn rays from the sun the right way up cos at the moment it's giving me neckache trying to watch it!
really wanna see you going to town on the psychedelic one as well...
*droooool*
The Sphercular Community DVD
Yeah, 'The Big Trip' video is sooo sick, i love it.
It's so easy to turn that clip upside down, just flip your monitor
That's such a bizarre problem, must be a codec thing. Grab that codec i suggested. Oh yeah, did you send it on to garthy? I can't really do it cos it takes forever here.
I'm kinda thinking that this dvd will be a 1 off. Not sure i'll ever be in a position to do this again. I mean it's taken me a year. 6 months filming plus 6 months editing. Admittedly i could get it done quicker but for half that time i was working and half the time i'v ebeen travelling. But still I can't see how i can make the money back it's cost to make it. It could end up being the only one i ever make, but who knows.
I think it's gonna be pretty unique anyway. We'll see.
My brother just bought over all my dv tapes from nz. I'm thinking i might put say 20 minutes of VJ eye candy on the end. I mean i have loads of crazy footage of glow diabolo's / poi / lush waterfalss and so on that i can't really use in the dvd as much as i'd like. So i was thinking i could include a section that people can put on wihle they are listening to tunes, or project at parties and so on. Would be great fun to make as well cos i wouldn't have to worry about people being able to see what's going on so much. Through most of the vid i'd made certain that it's easy as posible to see what the moves are. Slowed down the really sick ones and so on. But with VJ stuff i oculd go wild
Chris, you were looking on good form to me in that video. Remember i take 1 hour of footage and shrink it to 5 minutes. So everyone looks totally badass..
Anyways, gotta run
m

It's official.... I want this DVD more than crack!

Sorry Chutney,
I've been living in web cafes for ages now and it was taking 40 mins to send the preview to people. The first time it didn't complete and the second time it did.
Chris can you please email the suff i sent you to chutney.
I'm thinking of including a video poidia on the disk. Any thoughts.
I wanted to put some kind of tuition on it but it's so infinite that i want the tuition to be online. So it can always be improved upon by the whole community. I think any tuition on dvd will be out dated really quickly.
Anyways, here's the official preview for the dvd: Including the name of the dvd and the all new spherculism logo, which have remained entirely secret until today

One of those should do ya
It's a quick trailer for the whole dvd, it's very quick but i dig it.
I'll do some crazy vj stuff for everyone to play with. Figure it will be cool stuff for people to project at parties. Plus it's fun and pretty quick and easy. Alot quicker than selecting each clip and fitting it to music blah blah.
Take it easy poiple,

thanks for all those things, and for getting that stuff forwarded (I wasn't being a bitch- its just everyone was going nuts and I had no idea wtf was going on)
It all looks utterly brilliant. I'm guessing the new logo will be the basis of the new style Spherculism site?
Anyway, enough questions for now- thoroughly looking forward to seeing the videos.
THANKYOU!

Hello poiple, glad you like te little trailer. The last clip (me mirrored in red on a blue background) is part of my absolute favourite piece. It's super halucinogenic and features oli, me and olive doing our most insane things, mostly at 50% speed so you can see the intricasies of all the craziest poi and staff throwing. It's super cool.
Now's probably a good time to start thinking about how we are going to burn and distribute this dvd. Firetoys will be the main distributor in europe. Hop may or may not stock it. Bizarrely malcolm had said ages ago he would stock it and then said yesterday it sounds too similar to col. So i dunno.
I could set up a webshop and send the stuff out myself but i know i'll get slack and if i'm travelling about the place people wouldn't get their copies very quick. But i totally trust firetoys and know they'll do a grand job. Only problem being that they have way bigger overheads than me.
Anyhoo. I'm thinking once the dvd is out we should all go to our local juggling shop and tell them about the new release. Perhaps i could print up a load of cards with details of the dvd and where to buy it. Then i could send out a load to people and you could all spread the word.
I guess i shoul make a poster for firetoys to send out to their big order customers. To advertise in the shop the fab new release. hmmm...
Any other ideas?
Any one had an experience with getting pro dvd's burnt in uk? I remember talking to someone who had contacts.
Not sure whether to get them all burnt here and send them or burn some US, UK and oz/nz copies.
Anyways, the dvd rocks. It's currently 40 mins long. that's 6 short films really nicely edited to great music. Each piece is my favourite clips from 1 hour. So it's real high quality. Got 2/3 more like this to make. Then maybe add a video poidia. Which would be 20mins if i allow 15 seconds per entry. Then a bit of vj nonsense and some photos and it'll be finished. Poidia shouldn't be to tricky, i have all the content already just a matter of joining it all together. Anything else you want to see in it?
What shall i do about the ftage from MCP, chutney and poikid??? i'm a bit stuck cos i haven't included it yet. Might just have a little freestyle section at the end. Thanks fr the fotage poikid, looks cool. It's quite low resolution but i'll include it somehow.
Go forth and spread the word about the awsome new release

matt-
dvd wise I know a place that I could probably get a few copies into in Malvern- I'd need unit prices etc and some literature to give the guy.
As for my footage.... well, I'm torn between saying I really want it featured and saying leave it.
The stuff I sent you is old, not bad but certainly not a decent rep of my spinning now and I don't like the way it is spun (movement etc, which I have improved a lot since then). That said, i learnt most of that from Spherculism, and thought that was the point of the DVD. If its not going to chopped up or edited into a more attractive piece then I probably would prefer it if you pulled it.
