Translation into french

easy poiple
the foreign language sections seem to be stagnant and in an effort to change that, im gonna make an attempt to translate some of the most important posts from spherc into french. hopefully this will further enlarge the sphericular empire, and encourage more non-english speakers to post on the site. ive not been around this site long enough to see everything and it would be cool to have some help deciding what posts need doing. ive got some ideas from looking through the tutorials section but you might have read something i havent even seen, so..... let me know and ill check it out.
egalement si vous parlez francaise on peut travailler ensemble. et si vouz etes francaise, j'ai besion de savoir les termes que vouz utilisez pour le corps de le/la poi. en ce moment j'ai un scanner et je peut faire un dessin qu'indique les noms pour chaque component. alors, a+

Thats really cool Jon, thanks. Matt talked about using the net translators arounda little while back but I could never get it to work-

Thanks in advance,

Chutney Sphism/smilesmiley

Wicked idea Jon, it's something that i cannot do myself so thanks.

Perhaps write a big post in french linking to the hyperloops and weaves etc, decribe what each means and just generally help french speakers find the videos they wanna see.

Google translate is great, check it.

Really long link

To get it to work ~ go to google, then hit 'Language Tools' ~ you can translate a bit of text or enter a http link. You need to re-enter your name and pass but once you're in it translates the whole lot and any pages you visit after that.

cheers matt. ill be having a look at that for sure. did you and olive ever connect over the wiki french translations? it would be a massive help to have them. also wondering if its possible to enable anyone to edit a post so that translations could go up and be edited on site rather than sending emails and pms to and fro?

Good idea Jon
I'm still on the wikki translation, actually I haven't been doing much for the last month ..
gotta give it one more hour to nail it.
I'll send it to ya if you wanna have a look,
You can PM me your translations if you wanna have my point of view

yea man, for sure any help is appreciated in terms of the.. terms... things like outwards and inwards circles, are they simple exterieur and interieur? or do you use a droit a gauche? or neither? no idea myself. will pm you at some point when ive got a few more posts translated but in the meantime if you could post or pm me the translations of wiki that would be cool. a post in the french forum might be cool coz then i can use english terms when im stuck and people can just look down a list for the translation.

wherever he is, rev is truly a nightmare to translate......

tell ya what.. I'll work with you on it.. the only thing is you'll have to put up with me only having a reading knowledge of french.. I know people don't like aim... but you can reach me on aim pretty mch anytime..

otherwise let me know and I'll try and work around another messenger/idea..

oh.. and most everything I've ever posted probably has a simpler explanation by now.. and I've also been told that I'm incredibly more lucid in conversation than in post.. *shrug* not to mention, I can better target confusion and respond quicker than by post/email.. given that some ideas don't correlate as well (even though they are the same words) it would probably better to translate things via semantical understanding of connotations than by direct translation... I mean google is pretty direct for direct translation, but it often doesnt carry the same 'umph'.... anbone how remembers that italian poi page.. "and once and then to turn the chains.. here we go again to infinity.. " Im going to get that link..

[edit: here's that link maybe google translation isnt the best.. Sphism/winksmiley]

oh and I was going to post here yesterday but figured my reading knowledge probably wouldnt compare to what someone with sufficient time and google could work out..

yea, to be honest translation engines are mostly a waste of time especailly with anything approaching a technical text. plus you have to alter the text constantly so that the engine can understand it. they can be helpful but hardcore online dictionnaries are better if you understand the language IMO. the thing is, as speakers of the language we abuse its rules constantly, because we can. engines are simply not equipt to deal with the way we use language beyond a basic level. (a point i keep trying to make to my students). however..... im sure anyone french will rip apart my translation because im not french so....

just read that hilarious link. the bit that got me rolling on the floor in uncontrolled madness was

yes but.... Straight back! arms long the united flanks, feet... not panic!! .... The WRISTS!!!!

you can almost imagine a HST style moment...
as the experienced drug taker will tell you, when you find yourself truly in the grips of an acid frenzy, explanations are a thing to be avoided. indeed. most things are to be avoided. truly twisted on this terrible drug, i found myself trying to maintain. i was thinking clearly, but it was evident from the expression on the womans face that i wasnt getting through.... "the wrists!" i shouted, barely able to see as vision through my right eye went square. it was at that point i was rescued by my attourney who produced my passport and ushered me through the gate....

or something like that anyway....

tried to put some of the translations (3 done so far) on spherc last night but this pc has decided word is not installed. damnable technology. since it hasnt changed its mind i wil have to wait till wednesday to upload anything. watch this void.....
ps rev i now understand really what tracers are. i think i just read too much into the description. clerics vid helped with the understanding.

 if we want to share views and argue in/with french i think it could be an idea to open some forum on the specific french forums.

by experience i know my french poifriends prefer to login on sites where they understand every words...

and there might even be some discussion already started on the subjects of terms, which is for me as well the main interest

for instance, to signify inward/outward, i can use avant/arriere, interieur/exterieur, dedans/dehors, gauche/droite....so long as my partner understand all is ok!!! but more precision would be better...

i.e. http://www.jongle.net

http://www.bcc.fr.tc/

and of course we create a link back to spherculism Sphism/winksmiley

poipoi
dorox

that no problem. i definately think the french forum needs to be in french. first off i think there need to be some posts tho, so that poele have something to discuss and ask about. Sphism/winksmiley but agree with you totally. Sphism/smilesmiley as matt sugested there could be posts linking through to videos, either with articles on on a separate thread. for some reason the pc i use keeps crashing when i look at videos so thats hard for me to do. cheers for the terms, ive been using interieur exterieur alot, but like you say, a short explanation of what that means would help clarity. im sure we will get all this ironed out sending things too and fro. a plus peace
