Reading some of the comments about the encyclopoidia omnimodus, I had an idea/suggestion. I am new to the site so this might have been suggested and turned down already. You could turn the poidia into a wiki where the site users could add/define their own terms like they are doing in many of the threads in this topic.
SO bluecat pointed out that negative space isn't in the poidia yet, i kinda know what it is but could do with a better definition.
It's where you stop one poi and eg rest it on your shoulder, making a big hole between the poi and your arm, you then put the other poi thru the hole and continue doing strange things like this until
this is a term that has a few different connotations by itself.. and I think having a list of those would be helpful..
1. plane change- (see crossover point)
2. quadrant change? (see degree crossover)<- this I'll ahve vid clips and such for next week..
3. 2nd degree- (see crossover wraps)
Well, i spotted this one wasn't in the poidia so i figured i should post it up.
Whilst i noticed crossover points whilst spinning, it wasn't until uberpoi that i really understood how fundemental they can be to some people who spin, and how usful they are to developing crazy stuff...
any ideas? a series of nice concise sentences on interpretations of style and what it means would be great for something im thinking about writing.
peace
I can't believe thtis hasn't been put in here yet- To start things of here are some bits of another thread concerning this most brilliant area of (not actually) spinning
I thought as obvious as some of these are, we could still use a list. We are pretty good about the terms, but if you don't recognize the shorthand, then you can't search a term right?
I'm sure there are more abbreviations than this, but my mind is drawing a blank at the moment..
In the thread on inversions on HoP tenticle came up with a set of descriptions of the various "transitions" as he calls them that can describe weaves and perhaps allow us to talk about various bits and bobs a bit more clearly. I'll quote it here to save people the effort of finding it...
At last a simple and easy to read guide to terminology. I've been working on what I now know is a buzzsaw and having lots of fun with my beamers (and no lost teeth yet!. Keep on with the good work
A box is where you are spinning each poi at 90 degrees to the other (much like in atoms) but the centres of rotation are separated enough so that the paths of the poi only meet at the edges of the spin i.e. as if the two circles were sides of a box.
A weave done where the poi are spinning opposite directions rather than in the same direction. The hand motions are identical to regular weaves, only the direction differs.
