NB for later reference:
*= wick/ end of staff
/= shaft of staff
.=nothing, I had to put it in to get the right shapes so ignore it
so, I'm a big fan of playing with squares and triangles with doubles (although I'm still trying to get the hang of triangular antispin), but I happened upon an interesting idea while playing the other day:
I decided to start CJ because it looks so damn cool.. I went ahead and got me a 3" acrylic ball.. but I ahve a few questions..
ball scratches- I know dropping it on cement will scratch it pretty bad.. but what about other things? how easy/hard are these to scuff and scrath? and what's the best way to buff them out (since I know I'm bound to get them eventually?
Ok folks! Let's get this going.
Too often I've seen the dance side of poi left in the dust, to be trampled on by crazy hyperlooping-eight beating- reverse split time under the leg standing on your head- wibblers. All good stuff mind you, and I applaud all who have mastered such amazing skills and those who pursue them, but let's look to the dance.
I thinking of taking up diablo but could do with some pointers in regards to purchase.
What size do folks recommend for a beginner, I obviously want something I can grow into but not something which would be beyond my control in the early stages.
There are so many similarities between 2 diabolo and poi. Like 2 diabolo 'Fan' is a poi 'Buzzsaw'. So poi spinners should be able to get the hang of Fan's pretty quickly. Then of course turning your forwards fan to a backwards fan is exactly the same as with poi. It's also very similar to infinite tangles and tangle turning with Poi.
heya all. just uploaded THIS VIDEO on YouTube of matt doing some sweet as unedited unrehearsed diabolo, in circadia at woodford folk festival 06-07
i know you really wanted to see these matt! sorry its taken so long to get them up! (broadband issues) i'll upload the rest of them over the next week!
This is a great little video that me and my buddy Will made in melbourne. He's an awesome juggler, lots of bouncing, ball juggling, passing clubs with Christian and there's even a tiny clip of me bounce wibbling. Enjoy.
Welcome one and all to the new sphercular dance forum.
Many times have i been accused of being too much of a geeky tech poi spinner, but no more. I'm hoping to learn a great deal in this forum about how to dance more beautifully. How to present a performance. Tell a story through movement and all those other great things.
