It's pretty handy to be able to reverse the direction your poi are spinning. Not only does it add a certain dynamic when spinning to music but it also allows you to transition seemlessly from butterfly to weave and back again.
I am a relative newbie. I have just gotten to the point of working on isolations, and I can see that my stalls are getting better because of it. I was under the impression that antispin is when one poi goes forward and one goes reverse, but it has been explained to me that that is butterfly.
Aaargh! Can't work this one out. Been obsessed with this since I saw PK do it in a PiP vid; from a reel-type motion the poi swings under your armpit/bicep, circles and pops out the other way... I can do the move the other way, round my nech, but can't get it that way! Any ideas?
I'm tired of wearing long sleeves or bracers/gauntlets/etc when I want to do wraps with fire. What methods do you guys use to wrap with fire on bare skin?
Last week i was expirimenting with this. my friend and i were coriographing a show and along the way we started tinkering with this. while spinning we would wrap the poi on eachother to reverse directions. I dont know if anyone has tried this before, atleast i have never seen anyone try it before, but if any of you have or have ideas on this i'd like to hear them.
Ok I was spinning earlier today, and had a thought (lol..duh..). I've not seen that many people doing this , so wondering why, like if it was super diffi or just plain uncomfortable or what, started playing with it. Instead of doing reg wraps, example a right poi on left arm, and normally one poi after the other wrap wrap wrap or stuff like that, ya know, fairly generic wraps.....
I was just wondering if anyone does any wraps with poi cause it's easy to wrap with glowstrings and I like to do wraps so I was just wondering if it is harder or easier or anything like that.
so the way i understand it is a tap-back, as performed by msieu PPP, is where you catch just behind the head, or tail of the poi, and flick it back in a throw, reversing the direction.
hey just another big-up for matt, think the freestyle in rotational reversals is amazing and maybe do one fo each... just from wathing that i picked up loadsa ideas and tried em out without looking at any of the other tutorials... tho i did come to need them after a while.
So I realised today that i've got another couple catagories of videos that I haven't uploaded yet. Sorry bout that, I'm just too busy. Anywho, I reckon you've got enough to be playing around with for now.
Changing the direction your poi spins is essential to freestyle. This can be in numerous ways.
